    Ace or Thorazine?

Exactly.    Winning that comes at the cost of teaching a kid that doing things the right way only applies when it doesn't get in the way of winning....isn't worth winning.

    Unstoppable heifer

I bought a very nice heifer at a local county fair because the price was only sitting at $900, and I wanted to run it up higher.  I was there to pick up an award, and wasn't planning to stay...then this heifer came in as the first animal to sell.    I don't know the kid, but it was a very good...

    IN DEW TIME BULL CALF

cbcr, what would you be looking to accomplish by pulling a DNA test on the dam? OP, as far as keeping as a bull prospect, we're talking about a 4 breed bull calf already, so he's not going to bring much, if any, heterosis to the table for a breeder.  Sounds like the makings of a good steer...

Feedback and Thoughts on these animals please!

I assume the steer is young, as he looks young... but I do like him.  I would like to see a little more depth of rib, but I think he is structurally correct.  Time will tell how he turns out... Is the heifer to be used for breeding or the market?  For breeding, she is mighty straight in the...

    IN DEW TIME BULL CALF

    BTW, momma looks good!!

    IN DEW TIME BULL CALF

too much crossing in there for a bull prospect, so I would cut or plan to cut him....and then grow him for a while to determine where he goes from there...

Politically correct way to handle lethal genetic defects?

Personally, I don't care if show folks want to use carriers for their stock or not, but I do believe there should be a method that would make other folks aware that a particular animal is Free or a Carrier when that animal is offered for sale to the general public, such as at a sale barn.  How...

    bull for second calf heifer

Personally, I would not go with In Dew Time on a Built Right cow.  Both are sons of Dream On, and I really like both, but not on top of each other.  JMO.    Also, I would come back with PB Simmental if I'm looking to breed for a replacement.  That way, you can target her calf as a three way...

    Thoughts on 3/4 simmi bull

ditto to FWR's post.    also, Make sure to not use the name in the same font as Playbo's logo.  While you might win in court, you could still have to fight a cease and desist case.

    crazy heifer/long story

No disrespect intended, but I think you're giving up too quick.  Can the father break the heifer?  I had a habit of picking out limos when I was doing the youth shows, and about 25 percent of them were crazy 25 to 35 years ago.    I never had one that I couldnt break, but occassionally I had...

    Will she compete?

I mostly agree with Goodnight.  I would focus on getting her bred depending on her age, and get her ready for the  breed shows, but to be honest, I'd probably go tackle some jackpot shows to just to see how she stacks up against the crossbreds...LOL    I really like your girl..!

Flying B Cut Above aka "Fat Butt"

Calf #2 came today....with assistance required.  This was a first calf heifer, and she needed chains.  Good looking bull calf, but calved hard.  A couple more FB's to go.

    Red Simmental A.I.

Cut Above(Fat Butt)  is a homozygous black bull with a lot of substance.  I have one of his calves on the ground, and 4 more due this weekend.  the one on the ground is a very nice heifer that we may have shown.

    thoughts on this shorthorn heifer.

she looks nice enough.  It's hard to tell thickness from a profile picture.  Good depth.  I would prefer a straighter topline tho...

what do u guys think of my steer

ok, where do you plan to show him?  County, jackpots, State fairs??    If you have no goals at this point, that should be your next objective.....get some goals.  :)

Flying B Cut Above aka "Fat Butt"

I had one of the cows calve while I was away in Wyoming, and required a vet and a set of chains.  GRANTED, the cow was a week overdue, the cow is also 50% of the equation, and I was not here, so whether I would have callled a vet or not is not known.  Bottom line is my wife acted appropriately...

Flying B Cut Above aka "Fat Butt"

Has anyone noticed the new Fall EPD's on Fat Butt (Flying B Cut Above)?  I realize ASA changed their numbers around, but that does seem like not so nice changes in CE and BW.  I have 5 cows bred to him, and even though I'm in Florida, it has me scratching my head, wondering if I screwed...

    THE FAIRNESS POLICE

Gonewest, everyone has an opinion, and I respect yours.  I don't for one second believe life is "fair"...but I do believe anyone who thinks it's ok to bring Pros into a youth show is sadly missing a chance to give a kid some life lessons that he or she can use when they're 30 or 40 years old. ...
