Well, we are home and unpacked, and had a pretty good run at state fair this year. I have attached several pictures, just so you can see our experience. But first, a BIG congrats goes out to Coach Mac, who had the Champion 4-H heifer and Reserve Champion Open heifer there! Way to go  <party>
The first pic is our ribbons. We took 6 head, and all were in the top of the class! A few Champions (% Bull, Cow Calf Pair, and B/O Bull)...
The second pic is getting ready to load and go..
Then loading to go (that is the rear of the champion % bull, who is for sale by the way  ;) )
All tied up and set up in the barn..
Our middle child on poop detail  ;D

The first pic is our dorms, where we sleep for the 4 days we are there. I even bring my coffee pot, got to have my fix in the early mornings!
My middle daughter giving her 4-H demonstration at the State Fair for her points.

When we get them, I will post the pics that Pearl took of our champions and cattle in general. Our Upgrade half blood stood second behind the Champion Percentage heifer, which was the Owen's heifer that has won a ton this year already. We were very happy with where she ended up, and could not ask for a better fair. We have been asked to consign two heifers and maybe a bull to the Royal sale this year, so looks like we are headed to the American Royal this year!

Thank you Kris.  Our little string of shade tree heifers did ok this year!    Your kids worked hard.  Congrats on the silks, as well as the upcoming royal sale.  Assume they inquired about the lil Upgrade?

If you mean Rachel's heifer (our Upgrade), yes they were really trying to convince us to put her in the Royal sale. Rachel has only two females, and really loves this girl so there was no way of convincing her that her heifer should be sold. Plus, she is due right before the sale, so timing was not good. Not bad for a $1500 heifer bought last fall, huh?
But boy, what a compliment to have them ask US to consign our females and a bull to the sale. Looks like the Oval F heifer (confirmed bred to Chopper for a March calf) and Rebekah's bred and owned are going to the Royal!
Keep us posted on Zoey's calf, excited about that one! She sure looked good and had a great run this year  :)
