We had to pull a heifer calf last evening that was coming backward and she got hip locked.  It was a Hard Core calf out of a first time heifer.  The new calf is not able to get up on her back legs.  She gives it a good try but just can't get them all working together.  I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?  What was you outcome?  I have bottle fed her fresh colostrum from friends that run a dairy farm.  Thanks for any help!

Try an injection of dexamethason  3-4 cc  anti inflamatory will relieve some of the problem around probably a pinched nerve.  watch for signs of better in a day or so

talk to your vet about using a different anti-inflammatory.  Dex can suppress the immune system and you do not want that in a baby calf.
