I have never tried it but what are the chances a cidr will work on a heifer? We know she is cycling but she shows very few signs when were in the barn.

What are the chances?  :)  I'd say very, very good.  Why wouldn't it work?

I have always CIDR'ed all my heifers and had good success.  Some studies have shown that CIDR's will not work on heifers that havent started cycling, I am not an expert but with pigs if we have a gilt that is old enough that she should be cycling and is not we give a shot of PG600 to induce puberty. Dont know if this will work in heifers, but I dont see why it wouldnt.

We use the CIDR protocol on our heifers every year and average 70% conception.

We're synching a group of heifers for a neighbor and I had concerns about the sexual maturity of these heifers and so far not so good. Problem is the owner wasn't sure about the DOB on the heifers and they weren't the best stock to begin with. Just goes to show how important record keeping is and buying quality breeding stock.
