I see the Duis Sale catalogue is online on the ASA website. Lot 1 is the Diamond Helena Dottie 12H cow’s offspring. To say we are pleased with how she has done in the US since Ward Bakenhus bought her out of our sale in 2001 is an understatement. I always told the girls she was our best “H” heifer but they were on a roll showing their heifers Diamond Hot Candy 3H and Diamond Hilary Susan 47H, both cows that ended up doing well for us, so they didn’t agree with Dad!
12H’s first two calves were sons of Eionmor Chief 16H. The first sold in our 2000 sale to Norris Sheppard, Shepalta Shorthorns as a herd sire. The second was her bull calf from the 2001 sale that sold to a commercial Angus herd. Mike Dugdale always insisted on some top breds and that year we reluctantly put Diamond Helena Dottie 12H in the sale.
Her grand dam sold in our 1996 sale to Huckfeldt’s in Nebraska and they had great success breeding her and her daughters to CF Prosperity. 12H’s dam was a deep barreled tank that we should have flushed!

I stopped at Bob Duis's after the Waukaru sale and saw Helena Dottie 12H and all the sale cattle. She is still going strong and looks good for her age. Her Sonny daughter that sells is, IMO, the best in the sale. She could bring some serious coin as she is pretty close to flawless in her design. Her white Vegas son is also pretty good.

The short answer is yes 55G is related to 12H.
Now the longer answer, so those not interested can quickly skip to another thread!
In 1983 ( I just realised I was a decade out) my wife, Jill, went to Crowfoot Cattle and bought back 3 cows of the original Diamond herd of Cecil Staples. These cows were 15, 9 and 9 years and had Hereford cross heifer calves that the Clarks wanted to retain. So we started getting purebred calves from them at 16, 10 and 10. They produced until they were 18, 15 and 15. One was Crowfoot Dottie 9F. Clark’s had bought her in dam and she was a daughter of Thomas Leader 13C and Diamond Dottie 2nd. Diamond Dottie 2nd was also the dam of Crowfoot Flag, the sire of Gafa Mohican and grandsire of the Eionmor Mr. Gus bulls. In 1973 Cecil Staples had given us 2nd pick of his herd, Clark’s had first pick and took Dottie 2nd, we took Diamond May 5th. The Mays go back to the same cow as the Dottie’s do. We also got another couple of Diamond Dottie’s but back to Crowfoot Dottie 9F.
Crowfoot Dottie 9F’s second last calf was Diamond Dottie 22X a daughter of Deer Trail Private Eye, a bull my Dad bought out of Grathwohls pen of bulls in Denver in1985.
Diamond Dottie 22X produced three daughters for us before selling to Huckfeldt’s in Nebraska. We had collected embryo’s before she sold.
Diamond Bella Dottie 47B dam of Diamond Ella Dottie 53E in turn dam of Diamond Dottie 55G. 47B was also the dam of Diamond Hubback 33H herd sire at Double Star.
Diamond Claret Dottie 63C dam of Norvyk Joedeen Dottie 6J the dam of Six S Panther 35P.
Diamond Della Dottie 43D dam of Diamond Helena Dottie 12H
So not so briefly they both go back to Diamond Dottie 22X.
Diamond Dottie 55G is 13 years old (Helena is 12). 55G’s first calf Diamond Dottie 52J sold to Moore’s in Illinois and was still producing last year. Her 2nd heifer sold to Ron and Annette Vanek, Montana and I believe both Vanek’s and Koulee Shorthorns in Washington have descendants. This year 55G had a Diamond Prophecy 21P heifer and we decided to put her into a flush program before it’s too late! First flush we got 11 embryos by Saskvalley Ultra 12J.
She will be flushed in a couple of weeks for an order going to Scotland.

I still stand behind my Hot Candy preference and I am sure Jacqueline stands on her Hilary choice... With that said Helena was undeniably a great cow and it is thrilling to see her doing so well.

I think that is a different Crowfoot, both were named for Crowfoot Creek that runs through the Bassano,Alberta area.
Those people did disperse their cows but started over with the heifers they kept.

I am just taking a wild guess but I bet that 12H was your female and 3H was Jamie's and Ol Hillary I know was Jacqueline's.  Dad had to sell his because the girls would not sell their heifers??
I really wish that Hillary would of had a Matrix baby before her retirement!
I know how that works already caused Lil Hilltop never wants to sell any of her calves, which is great when there is a good bull that Mom, and Dad can use!

Yes Diamond Hot Candy 3H was Jaimie's and she was out of Circle M Candy's Floss a full sister to Winegum's Dam! 3H had a grandson sell in the Saskvalley sale this spring. Her first calf sold to Tennessee. Diamond Hilary Susan 47H you know (Kim's best friend!). She has two Northern Legend 3N offspring at Koulee Shorthorns in Washington. One was an ET and the other her natural calf. She was one of the River Ridge Elite cows making her a half sib to Diamond Helena Dottie 47H and Northern Legend's dam. jacquleine hopes to get a couple of 47H embryos in next year.I have attached photos of the two at Koulee.

I thought that I would add a Hot Candy calf in since Hilary wasn't the only producer...  Attached is Diamond Sizzling Legend 15S he went on to win the Ring Masters Choice in the 2006 Canadian Western Agribition then went on to be used in the Saskvalley herd on both their commercial herd and then later on the purebred program!!!

The DF Waco bull looks to be a good one. Do you have any by him on the way?

I might have one bred to him. I only tried a couple. Haven't preg checked the herd to see if she is pregnant AI or by the bull.

I didn't know you had used Patent. That should be very interesting. What bloodline did you use him on?

Thunderdownunder: I am actually going to be flushing my Australian cow to DF Waco. It should be very interesting. Her name is WF Athena W50H. She is sired by SPRYS Jackpot and out of a Narralda Thelma cow.
