Diamond Prophecy 21P

Well I’m new to this so thought I would start by introducing our senior herd sire Diamond Prophecy 21P. We sold him as a yearling to Northern Shorthorns. Last year we shared a pasture with Northern so this year we had several calves by 21P. He is as easy a calving sire as we have ever used. This year we bought him back and he is with 30 females. We purchased Prophecy’s sire, RB Red Eagle Y2K from Ralph Larsen in Montana. Ralph had purchased him in dam in the Rocker Bros. dispersal. Three of his full brothers were also used in purebred herds including RB Eagle 226 at Byland. Prophecy 21P is out of a cow my daughter, Jaimie showed successfully in 4H. She was a great producing Gafa Captain Macbest 6G daughter. 21P is TH free and is a gentle easy keeping bull with EPD’s very similar to 6G’s.

What do you think he weighs, is he a 5 yr old?

Glad you like him. He is a six year old. Probably weighs about 2250 to 2300 as he is pretty deep and wide but not a big frame.(need to measure him but probably a 6)

Welcome Dan!  It looks like Prophecy has developed very well. He is a very good bull. How are his calves looking?

His calves are born small but really fill out fast. The heifers are very neat with nice fronts like Prophecy's mother. The bull calves look a lot like Prophecy and seem to have good growth. One of these weekends I will get some pictures of the calves.

He sure looks like he has short legs......... Oh but I forgot you have grass in the pastures this year (lol). He looks very good!
We have three bull calves out of him here from Diamond cows we have on lease and were from 76 to 83 lbs at birth. They are looking good and thought about keeping one for our heifers, but Regals brother looks better everyday so maybe he will want to stay in "Gods Country".

If you get a chance sometime see if you can get a photo of him. Assuming you can see him in the grass!! We have never been so green at this time of year.

Can you post a pic of Northern Legend's dam ---- Butterfly 3G??  The white female. She is awesome, I saw a pic of her once and loved her, her grandson is doing a great job at Kohlstaedts. I am going to assume she is dead now??

Yes the 3G female is gone now, as is Diamond Hillary Susan 47H, I don't think there are many River Ridge Elite 38E daughters left other than Diamond Helena Dottie 12H at Duis Farms. Northern does have 2 ET heifer calves out of 3G by Diamond Captain Mark 27C and a white ET bull calf same flush. We have three 3G embryos left from that mating as well. The photo was in one of our sale catalogues. I need to check and see if we still have it. Northern does have other Butterfly 3G daughters including an L by 6G that is TH free.

Yes that was one cold day, surprised you remember any cattle it was't very good viewing. Had a similar day last January viewing cattle in Saskatchewan with Karla Wiess -Smith from Australia. The Muridale cattle seemed oblivious to the cold but we sure felt it!

So far he looks like he will work. The Matlock Red Sniper 1U bull has left some nice calves as well and he is definitely another light birth weight sire. We would go out to check the heifers and his calves would be up running around or nursing. Are you heading west this fall?

I thought I would mention that the Prophecy calves out of my females are stamped with his easy fleshing and over all soundness.  As a added bonus they are extremely fancy...  I might biast as I bred the bull  but I honestly believe that he will do great things for our herd!!!

Here are two of Diamond Prophecy 21P's that we have on shares with ACC Cattle Co. Anwenders, Radville, Sask. They were both born Apr. 5 out of three year old second Calvers. One's dam is by Saskvalley Primo 40P and the other by Northern Legend 3N. The photos were taken May 28 and June 23.

Here is a heifer calf by Diamond Prophecy 21P born March 20, BW 82lbs. She is out of Diamond Regal Legend 4R’s full sister. Not the best picture and she is definitely photographed in the rough. She is from our Diamond May family and this family traces all the way back to Amos Cruickshank’s herd in Scotland to a cow born in 1843 named Clipper. The Clippers were a famous Scotch Shorthorn family and they were imported to Canada, then to the US and then back to Canada in the late1940’s. The Diamond Dottie cow family goes back to the same Clipper cow and they are now in the US again. Next month we are flushing a Dottie cow for a herd in Scotland so they will have gone full circle.

Yes I remember doing that search. So what has happened to the Butterflys, I found the nonpareils?
