I have used Dr Who on 3 cows that normally have 60 lb. calves. Two of them had 60 lb calves out of him and the third one had a 150 lb. calf. I thought he was relatively easy calving until I got that big one.

I would have to say no on breeding him to heifers.  My personal experience with him isnt alot.  We had one last year that weighed 118 lbs out of a third calf cow unassisted.  This year we had a 103 pounder out of a fourth calf cow unassisted also.  Those are the actual weights because they were put on a scale.

We had good luck with him on heifers, but I have also heard some that had pretty big ones, not probably consistent enough for heifer use.

Probably not the best choice for heifers.  Used him a couple years ago on some,  had to help a couple, not that heavy a calves but they are usually pretty chunky made.  Its that square peg- round hole thing more than the weight IMHO.

I had one Dr. Who calf born in December out of a first calf maine heifer and he weighed 74 lbs unassisted. He is a really nice calf!

A buddy of mine had a 115 lb Dr. Who out of a simmy heifer, but he fed her all the way through her gestation like a pet.

I think that a big factor in heavy birth weights is the nutrition of your cows. In south Texas, it has been dry and my cows aren't fed very heavily so that contributes to my lower birth weights. Anyone agree?

Our Doctor Who BW's ranged from 92 to 144 pounds, all on cows (that hadn't seen grain since they were yearling heifers). Average BW on 10 calves was obout 110 lbs. I really like his calves, but wouldn't recommend him for use on a first calver.

We had an ET out of him and Partisover 550 cow, 125#'s and took three to pull out of the reciep. I heard more big that little. I agree nutrition is a huge part but I am pretty sure in this case we kep tthe reciep on pretty strick diet. Calf was a nut job we could never tame. The reciep was mean too. I contribute the meaness to the reciep.

Finally got my Dr.Who calf out of a Mossy Oak second calf.He came 9 days late and was 90 # so I would not recomend him on a heifer but it is a good calf.

I've tried him on several different types and he seems to work well on just about anything.  I really like him on AAY daughters.  Also has worked well on some pretty heavy Chi influenced females, Maine females as well.  Maybe I'm just caught up in fandom, but he just seems to be very consistent in the way he breeds.  I'm not sure if he's a bull that is going to sire that "great" steer but his females are just plain good.

Could you possibly get a picture of him? We have a Mossy Oak who just had her first calf out of copyright on Friday. She was 12 days overdue. We wanted to breed her back to Monopoly but SEK has him on back order.
