Today I was reading my feed tag for my dairy beef calves and was wondering what everything really does for a calf. I know the basics of the Protein and fat but would like more in depth info on what it truely does. For growing dairy calves should you look for a higher protein or higher fat feed. Also could I get away with feeding just a calf starter wich at our fair weigh-in they cant weigh no more than 800lbs. The calves should be about 7 months at fair.
The tag reads as following:
Protein min. 20%
Fat min. 5%
Fiber max. 6%
