Feeding 4-H market steer !!

So I have a steer that's about 10 months old. I have been feeding him alfalfa pellets and beet pulp ( soaked ) but I might switch him the black oil sunflower seeds instead of the beet pulp. Has anyone ever fed a calf like this ? I know I sound crazy lol but he's gaining tons of weight like the other steers. He just smaller cause he's younger than them. Does anyone know of other fillers ?

I have never fed a steer like this and have never heard of it either... I feed mine a feed called long fattener dry and switch them to Purina show chow
3-4 months before final show... I've heard alfalfa can give them the squirts!! Beet pulp is high in fiber which also means a loose stool! I don't know what black lol sunflower seeds does for them other than make them shine  (lol)
