I am going to be reseeding my pastures this fall and jus wondered is anyone on here has used a no till drill or is it just as good to just broadcast it. I can rent a haybuster drill from the local coop for $ 7 per acre I`m just not sure if it`s going to be worth the extra cost and more time and fuel to get it done.

Are you overseeding or has the ground been worked? If the ground has been worked, broadcasting should be fine, but I'd pack it after seeding if at all possible. You'll get more even germination and a much thicker stand. If you're overseeding, I believe I'd opt for the drill.

If you are interseeding (drilling into existing pastures) DEFINITELY rent the drill for $7/acre.

Graze it fairly close before you interseed.  Don't fertilize until the new seedlings are established or the existing stand will choke it out.  Use a good quality seed mix, but don't fall for the "miracle seed".

I've had better luck seeding in the spring, but maybe that's only for this area.
