I am thinking of implanting my steers They are September and October Born, I am raising them for a late March Show they have never been implanted before. At what age do you normally implant them, and what types of implants do you use.
One is a Limousin X Angus, the other is a Maine/Chi/Angus
Thanks

There is no such things as stupid questions, if you don't know and don't ask you will get laughed at later than just asking up front. most of the time guys will implant a calf with ralgro, a low estrogen & testosterone implant. then about 210 days before the main show they hit them again with the ralgro. Then 30-45 days before the main show they hit them with a implant called revalor there are three types. G which is a growth implant that has estrogen and testosterone in it. there is H which means heifers, which has mainly testosterone in it, and there is S which stands for steer which has mainly estrogen in it. from what i have heard most of the guys are using H to put muscle mass on but be careful because they will get roach necked and it will raise their tailhead a little bit. i hope that answered most of the questions.
