I am new to the show world and need ideas on how to keep my steers out of the sun thru the summer. How cool do they need to be? I have a barn, but it gets sooo hot during the day and im not sure whats the best way to cool it down. Im also considering trying to use tarps ect to build something to keep them in, but wasnt sure how much space is needed per animal - if theyre all ( 6 steers) in one area wont their body heat make them hot? I am also considering a cooling unit for the barn, but am not sure where to get one, what they cost, or how big an area they will keep cool. Any ideas would be great!!  :)))

Well fans and misters would be the place to start to keep it cool. A cooler room would cost a bit more. Contact Cool Calf for cooler room prices.  If you are tying them up they need 3 feet of space in between them.  If you are growing hair, you need it to be 65 degrees, and pitch black.  When I have more time I will elaborate on the subject

if you go with cool calf, its gonna cost more than building one your self, just plywood and insulation and an ac unit, and somekind of ventilation, if ur looking for hair, keep it DARK
