What would a bred horn in Sullivan's sale go for?  Not the top end, but one with some show history in her pedigree, decent made, from a popular cow family.  If you take out the top end and bottom sellers, what does the middle third or half average?

I have purchased 3 females out of the Sullivan sale in past years. I purchased a heifer calf for $3500 and she is a flushmate to a heifer that was Reserve Grand at the US Jr Nationals a few years ago. I have also purchased 2 bred heifers in this sale at $3000 and $3800. Both have made outstanding females in our herd. The $3000 bred heifer is an Augusta Pride and she has given us 3 outstanding females that were all in the top end of the calf crop. Maybe I have been fortunate, but all 3 of my purchases have been very easy fleshing. The Augusta Pride cow has another excellent heifer calf this year and she has gained weight while raising her calf. I held her open so I can flush her this winter and I will rebreed her next spring. You only hear of the high prices in these sales, but there are always good buying to be done. All 3 of my purchases there have been excellent investments.
