Here is our newest addition; a Mo Better bull calf out of a Macho half blood. Her picture was taken the day after she calved. We got her at the Collins Exposure sale in 2008, she won Champion percentage at South Central Regionals in 2009. She clicked with Mo Better pretty good, but I am looking for a bull that will pretty her up. She is so massive and "steery" that I need something that will give her more middle and a little less shoulder. The Mo Better calf looks pretty good, but he is a bull. We need a heifer out of her! Since she is a half blood, I want to breed her to a pure bred so we get a 3/4 out of her. Oh, that is her in my avatar also, last year before calving.
So what do you think?

In Dew Time. I have some first calf heifers by him that are all raising super calves. Not a single dud and they are the standouts in the group. He works so well for me I'm going to go back and use him again.

I also like I n Dew Time a lot and I have a daughter that is pretty massive. However, he tends to throw a shorter neck on a calf. He is still one of my top options though. I also like Upgrade, and have heard that he can clean up a front on a cow. The daughter I have does have some leather, but she is maturing into a MASSIVE heifer. She is on my avatar.

Kaehler's Make it Rain would be interesting(PB simmi), Grandmaster would be  cool to see, and if you want to go old school Fortune 500.... i relize you want a simmy bull but i can think of a few angus that would be pretty cool to try - New Edition, Silvieras Style to name a few

Never thought of MIR! He had an AWESOME heifer calf on a cow that showed as a pair at Nationals. She is selling in their on-line sale. Does he add guts? This cow is an awesome cow. Here is a pic of her udder, and this is her second calf! I love Macho females... That is why I want to breed her back Sim, she can put a great female on the ground. I might use Mo Better heifer sexed semen since it is so cheap right now! I have thought about IDT, but I have seen just as many average calves out of him as decent calves, so I am not real impressed with him. Not saying I would not use him... just not excited about him. We have a grandmaster calf due in February, out of a similar type cow so I will get to see how he clicks with that...

this fall we had two grandmasters born, both out of sloppier fronted females. Both the calves were heifers, and both have rocket front ends and smooth shoulders. They have that cocky look to them. I will for sure use him again. I know there is some conteversy with him right now, but a good bull is a good bull! Nice cow, and it looks like a thick calf from those tree trunks  of front legs!!!! Cool pair!

Built Right...he'd smoke on that cow!  My only concern would be too much white popping up with the Macho/Meyer also in the background....

What is the controversy with Grandmaster?  Still talking about the deal with his numbers?

thanks.

A sleeper no one has mentioned is Ebonys Premium Blend.  He is out of the dam of of Grandmaster but sires more bone and muscle but still good calving ease.  One of my best this year is a Premium Blend out of a first calf heifer.  Built Right makes them pretty but he carries the spot gene as husker1 points out so be careful.

Would Built Right add gut? Our best cow is a Built Right (the one I show all the pics of as a pair), but she lacks in gut. She has a AWESOME front end, can't find one better! But she needs guts. Her dam had plenty of gut and all of her other calves have plenty of guts (Mo Better, Pacesetter, and many other calves - they flush her a lot). That is why I never considered him. Excess white does not concern me; this Macho cow has NO white anywhere and her Mo Better calf just had a little white compared to others I have seen. It is worth the risk, plus my girls LOVE white!!!
I think the Grandmaster is about his numbers. Funny thing is, he still has some GREAT numbers compared to other bulls out there, so I do not understand the grief. We have a grandmaster due in February (it is a heifer  ;D); we bred him to a daughter of our Built Right cow that is a pacesetter and she too needed gut. She did a great job on her first calf - a cherry red Amigo bull calf. He is for sale.
