Looking for opinions/advice on trying to add a little more cover for early shows (fall/winter) while trying to be more cost effective/efficient with our feed.  Do you feel that cooking corn will do this as well, better, worse?? as adding a fat supplement (i.e. Power Fuel)?
In the past (currently) we have used (for steers) showmaster grower with power fuel added early, but for those who cook corn regularly, can we get the same results (hopefully cheaper)?  With more calves to feed we are looking at different ways to possible cut some costs and this is one we are looking at?  We aren't looking to swich feeds, fat supplement, etc.  just looking for advice from those who have experience with this.
