I was wondering what some of your favorite old Maine bulls were that you can still get semen on? Also any one have any PB Maine cows that they like? I am looking for some PB maine embroys and some semen on older bulls. Thanks a lot!

Alta Genetics, Balzac, Alberta has a good selection of old original fullblood and purebred Maine sires.  I checked into this when Dr. Beever was searching for Maine semen when he was trying source where the PHA defect originated. I was surprised how many older bulls they had. As for getting the semen to the US, they usually have a tank going to a major US stud every week or so.

Why do you ask? shorthons or clubby power? regardless, the list you are questing begins and ends with Cunia. $250 an amp, $200 a stick. I personally have great luck with Stinger. And before DL hangs me up by my snarklies, I know he is the typhoid Mary of PHA. Terminal outcross you cant beat it with a big stick.

Epinal sons, Cunia sons, I personally dig Diabon and Diablo, but regardless, think the three pinnacles, Cunia, Epinal, Covino are the alpha and omega when it comes to the red and white French plow pullers. Just remember Cunia means " I Surrender" in French and Epinal  means "They went That Way!"

i think alta raised their rates and a lot of semen may have been dumped on these older bulls from various people that were not the alpha and omega types.

are diabon and diablo sp? blacks? and covino, you mean covnio III?

Are you looking for fullblood bulls & embryos or older purebred bulls and embryos?

xxcc and telos are fullblood gurus

for purebred bulls that make great cows
FR Magic
DF Midas
Poplar Hvn Smithbilt

Streamliner (Twin Creek Etulason) is a big red real world performance fullblood bull - also sire of Power Plant

Ferris Ranch Strutt (Cunia grandson) sires bigger framed, narrower, pretty females making really good cows

Pistol Pete also made some really good cows, as did his DJ Bullseye - although he was not terribly consistent

There are also some fairly well known older cow families - DMCC Beauty & Dancer families, K&A Carlene, LLND Ashley, Dejongs had a great cow whose name I don't remember right now; Wise's had some exceptional cow families ZTA Black Ruby 224X and ZTA Lucy come to mind

YC - I have friends who swear Stinger makes great crossbred cows, although people who say him called him a freak of nature - with all the clean bulls around not really sure what he offers that you can't get from a clean bull - consider your snarklies safe for the moment  ;)

knabe - think YC means Iabon and Dabla and Covino III

Yes, Ma'am thank you for your editing of my typing.

And I swear dirty laundry writes big checks if you know when to add the bleach and when to get the knife.

BTW, I am sure it was a typo as was mine, but PP was DJ Bullseye (aka locked up lump of snot) daddy not the other way around,

Lana, unless feed is lots cheaper up in the thumb than it is in the fruited plain, you you need to start thinking bout some Witchdoctor. Great googly moogly woman, that three legged cow weigh 22?

BCCC I assume you are younger than 25. What is "old" maine to me is differrent than your idea of old maine. If you are a clubby person, no pb maine with black hair born before 1995 (except WD) would make you smile. Heavens, Power Plant was a tall gangly high flanked no haired lump of smurf sweat in your world.

I really love my lines that go back to Popular Haven Smithbuilt.
Some others:
Calberta Hustler
FSCC Builtmore (I may have it spelled wrong its late and I've worked more 12 hour + days than I want to admit)
and my favorite cow I own is a DJ Bullseye

I don't like to go to far back on the old bulls.  I don't want to go back to the days of cows that looked like they were on stilts.

If it takes dirty laundry to keep your snarkies safe so be it

Bulls Eye and Pete - not related, my typo
Bulls Eye is a Holy smoke out of a Tidal Wave cow and Pistol Pete is line bred Mr County Line 186

Yup I like The Witch Doctor - like his females and have some - last week they weighed between 1575 and 1750, again on grass and bred back first AI

Don't know what you are thinking but we are nowhere near the thumb and the old cow weighed 1800 - frankly if a 1800 pound cow can wean an 800 to 900 pound calf on grass and maintain condition and breed back I don't see it as a problem and if you do then the problem is yours ;)

Kryptonite produces really good females and some sons of his that I've seen have done pretty well. Also, I got a nice calf out of Smokin Joe this year and I have heard a lot of good things about this bull from other breeders. He is an Ali son and is calving ease.

i've been curious about stud muffin and jim dandy in passing for a while as well.

there's a bull way back there called beleau, whose sire is timon, who is the sire of etula and abricot.  timon's sire mickey 3 links together a lot of obscure pedigrees through romeo ix, including poplar haven smithbuilt.

beleau had a decent number of offspring. anyone know anything about him?

Older maine bulls to make females on my list would be
Chill Factor and Reflector.  I have a few Reflector cows and love them. They are a touch big, but are angular, pretty profiled and milk really well with good udders.  Great cows to cross with popular clubby genetics.

Reflector did make some nice females, Smithbilt had a huge influence - another bull who made some nice females and whose sons did pretty well is Paydirt (sired by the huge Boogards) he was one of the earlier freaky fronted Maines and he passed it on - Impact and Hustler to name a few

Today I picked up the Maine Anjou voice from March 1997. I saw a few bulls that I really liked. I saw stud muffin and I was impressed with him. I also so a bull called LFC Mint(JP Mr.Boomer x LFC Honky Tonk) and a bull call Stalker(Polled Pirsuit x smith built). Any opinions on them? I also saw a bulled called Doc(Pulled Pursuit x streamliner).

What kind of Cows does Polleroid work good on?

I really like chill factor and have a couple PHAF Irish whiskey females bred to him for this srping and have some more semen in the tank. I also have a cane of Witch Dr. that I dont know what to do with. I have one cow I will be breeding him to next year
