I am seeing many references to "Modern show steer type" or " The type of steers demanded today". Question: What is this type? Are we moving to a more complete animal that is more moderate in terms of muscle and skeleton or are they getting even more extreme? I think I know the answer I just wanted to get everyones opinion based on the calves that are currently winning at the majors.

The steers that win the majors and the big state fairs are a lot less extreme today than they have been at any time that I remember. Softer, more sound, less heavy boned and not as freak necked.
