We have a show (Sioux Empire) coming up in about 10 days. On of the steers, best one of course, got ringworm after the last show. Im sure its dead now and the hair is just starting to come back. The bald circles are about 3" diameter and it has two on its back. Is there an etiquette guidline to go by, or if my vet says go, is that acceptable. Kind of reminds me of sending kids to school after they've been sick. I don't want to expose others, but I'm sure we picked it up at a show. Thanks :-\

Ringworm fungus spores are everywhere.  I don't believe that ringworm can actually be prevented.  If the outbreak is less than 30-40 days old, probably most polite to stay home.  After about 40 days, the animal (and usually every other animal on the place) are healing up and seem to never get it again.  If the crusty scabs are gone and the skin is smooth with new hair growing in, just paint the bare spots, if needed to blend in, and go to the show.

If your vet clears your calf to go via health papers, go. There'll be plenty of calves there that have/had ringworm. I feel like most PPL over react to calves getting ringworm. JMO.
