I purchased a Ranch Hand daughter for my grandson to show. She is a 3/4 Simmy out of a half Angus cow and, at five months appeared to have normal growth potential. Don't understand what happened to her as she is out of a cow that weighs about 1600# and Ranch Hand is 58.5" and 2190# (according to ABS). This heifer is 10 months old and weights 890#, but is very short and needs more bone. All of the judges place her down because she appears to be "early maturing". Now, my commercial heifers I want "early maturing" so they will be the first to start cycling. Anyway, I am considering IVF and was wanting to find a Simmy (PB or %) that would add some bone and give more growth. A baldy would be nice (not necessary) and I need one with the phenotype to win some shows. Any recommendations?
