I would love to hear what you all do on the day of the show and how early you start. We are quite new to showing and fitting. Seem to have the clipping down pretty good but need some help prepping the calves on show day. If you could please share what you put in the hair, the order, etc, I would really appreciate it.  I will tell you what we do and please critique.

At home for daily hair work -- Kleen Sheen/vinegar/infusium mix, roto brush on legs. Spray in olive oil/pink oil and blow.

At show, wash day before show, rinse day of show. Some use revive but we don't. We have used Zoom Bloom on show day, and then Final Bloom, and that was it for the body, but wasn't wow'd by that. We did pull legs and do tailheads and tails and all that too, but not sure if you should do legs/tails first or last.

Thanks for the help!

We revive the body (not the legs) pretty heavy the night before the show, after we feed and before they are laid down for the night. Blow it in really good. Rinse it out in the morning before the show, that will give the hair a "pop". I  have participated in numerous fitting contests, and the rule of thumb tends to be to start with the hind legs, move to fronts, and then get the tail head done. Do the legs and tail before worrying about the body. This will ensure that that if you run short on time all the "super important" stuff will be done and out of the way. In my opinion, the legs are going to take top priority, followed in close second by the tailhead.

Yes, definately start on the back legs, and then front, and then body.  It is vital that your legs are done properly, they make a HUGE difference in the overall appearance of the calf.  Most of the time we barely touch the body show day, just a comb or two, some pink oil or oil of some kind, and thats about it.  As long as you worked on that body hair and its decently trained, there is nothing much else to do.  I see people....who have way too much hired help.....get someone to blow the calf for the entire time it takes to fit legs.  So at least 1/2 hour to and hour.  This ensures that the hair is fresh and really popss.  Overall, if worse comes to worse...you will have the legs looking good, and if you get called to the ring early you wont have a nice body and two fitted legs or something like that.
