Here is my "simple math" on Simple Math. I bred 6 cows to him last fall (all Meyer 734 daughters or grandaughters). 5 recycled and I re-bred to WMW and all settled. The one I thought was bred to SM is now obviously bred to the clean up bull. On the other hand I bred 5 cows to Amen and all 5 stuck. Has anyone else had any similar results or is mine just isolated. I really liked the breeding on the bull and he sure has a nice look but at these conception rates I probably won't take a chance on him again.

have a straw tested for mobility etc.

on the other hand, i've had straws tested, said they were good by one stud, and from the same lot, they were bad from another.

pre ask for details of the test rather than just "good".  ask for a sample report.  ask for number of sperm, brokens etc.

one stud that is out of business now was one that just said "good".

or ask for the report on the lot you are purchasing.  they probably won't provide it.

you could ask for flush quality lots which have higher numbers.
