In answer to some of the questions asked:
1. We only had the one Walks Alone calf. Our cows calve out in large pasture by themselves. I have no idea what he weighed at birth, but he's not a real big calf. She had him with no trouble. Momma is a medium framed Meyer grandaughter. Nothing about this calf's shoulders or head make me think he would be unusually difficult calving.
2. All of my Troubador calves looks to be very well made structurally. In regards to the particular heifer out of the Golden Child momma: That was her second calf. The momma is a beautiful made, sound cow. Not the heaviest muscled or deepest bodied cow. My guess is is she's TH-neg by the looks of her. My youngest son is actually showing her first calf this year (a Northern Improvement daughter). Showing how a little time can change opinions, I would strongly recommend Troubador for use on any of the clubby bred cows you have calving ease concerns on. They are flat scrawny at birth and come on like no other sire I've ever seen. I just brought two babies to town (a heifer and a steer) with their mommas to get them ready for show/sale this spring.
3. I was surprised at first to get the color variation from Monopoly, but then I remembered Tiger Woods is out of him. I'm a little slow arriving to the party sometimes, but for those that haven't already figured it out Monopoly is a darn good bull. I had several calves out of him this fall and no problems whatsoever with any (calving, structure, etc). His calves have plenty of vigor in our setting (unlike his daddy's). As judges pay a little more attention to balance vs. absolute thickness, he's the real deal.
Anyone traveling Hwy 287 between Fort Worth and Wichita Falls is welcome to stop by. We've brought 14 calves and their mommas to town to get them fed up and ready to go this spring. Our barn in town is about 400 yards off the Highway.
