Hello all.  This past weekend I had my kids show calves hooves trimmed.  The person that trimmed the hooves was not impressed at all with the condition of their hooves.  It has been 65 days since we trimmed them last but I guess the person did not do a good job.  Due to the hooves needing a lot of work, he had to trim them down pretty far.  He cautioned me to be careful with the calves because he had to trim them so much.  All of the calves made it home just fine, just kind of walking gingerly.  I was watching them walk in the pasture when I saw my son's prospect steer stumble and immediately he started limping bad.  I walked over to where he stumbled and found a couple rocks.  I believe he must have stood on one of the rocks just right and bruised his foot.  I am going to soak his foot in Epsom salt tonight and give him some paste my vet gave me for inflammation (2 x's a day).  I moved the feeder/trough and water tank out to the tree he keeps hanging around to make sure he is getting enough water and food.  Do you have any other recommendations for helping his foot heal faster?
