We two calves that have been weaned since July.  They are in a group of twenty other sale calves.  Those two went to several shows together this summer.  About a month ago they started nursing off each other.  We don't have another pen to seperate them.  We have bought two different types of nose weaners.  One was too tight and they were able to get the second one out.  Anyone else ever have this problem?  These are really nice sale calves and we're afraid the teats are going to get big.

Not sure what kind you used, but we have had two heifers try to suck on others. With both heifers we used a plate (a small metal plate that looks like a license plate but smaller) and they worked great. The plate has two nose rings (hook like), one moves and is tightened by a wing nut when you fit it to the nose. The tips have a red ball on them to prevent injury to the nose. When we needed to, we could remove the plate (when we fed grain in a smaller bucket for instance). Both heifers wore them for about a month or so, and then stopped sucking. I think they just need to grow up a little. We used to joke that our heifers had a license to not drink and drive (because they would suck on other cows nursing calves if they could)  ;D
