I would like to know what bulls everyone uses to make good club calf mamas? I fell like everyone wants to breed for steers. These bulls go back to who or heat seeker, so the cow needs to be somthing else. Most of my cows are Angus based so do I go Simi, Maine or chi. Any opinions on what bulls to use. My best cow is a payback, and she throws good county fair calves  but I want state and national calves. Are her genetic getting to old. If any buddy has had this kind of success, what should I use

This is one of the best kept secrets in the business.

If everyone knew it, there would be more competiton as its pretty clear which bull to use for steers.

Everyone will have different ideas. Mossy Oak, Troubadour, ZNT Montego Bay, Irish Whiskey or a good son would be some of my favorites on your cow herd. Horn has several bulls (Lovin The Business is one ) that I think could also sire some exceptional cows. Parker Cattle Co. in Texas has one of my favorite 734 sons and believe semen is available. These bulls are just some that might compliment the current club calf genetics. I think good feet and legs with good extension are a top priority for clubby mommas.

who made who, alias, yellow jacket, strictly business, ground zero, full flush, Meyer influenced or maximus

Which bulls have daughters with the highest fertility rate after they are over fed?  Yes these are a different class of animal than making a club calf.

Here are two Pericles yearling heifers.  One is out of an Eye Candy first calf heifer, the other is out of a Hereford X Angus first calf heifer.  Both heifers pictures were taken at Bobby Wellner's in Wyoming this weekend.

Not trying to side track this thread, but I saw on another thread that folks are adding Galloway back into shorthorns. If you have a moderate herd of shorthorns my assumption you are not going to get size from the Galloway influence. What do you hope to add by using Galloway sires on shorthorn cows?

Most tell me they like the softness of body,  stifle,  and flex that the Galloway adds.

Check out www.whiteroostercattle.com  They have the kind of bulls you're looking for to make momma cows.  Not sure if they offer sexed semen but can always as.  Good luck.
