I  have a Yellow Jacket heifer that I am breeding this spring. She is a gold colored with a white face, has good bone and hair just needs her front end cleaned up a little. Was thinking of using I-80 on her, he seems like he will clean up her front end. Anyone else have any suggestions, i don't have a picture of her so I know it might be hard to say who to breed her too but if anyone has  any experience with Yellow Jacket heifers/cows it would be good to hear. Thanks

Do it at your own risk, but I bred a YJ heifer last year to Troubador and have wound up with a real good steer that we are going to feed for next year.  She calved way early due to our extreme drought/heat and he came out the size of a big rat, but all of my Troubador calves out of my cows have been very small the past two years.

I would only consider it if you truly know what you are doing on calving out heifers and have the time to watch one and the equipment to get it out if you do have trouble.

We have a yellow jacket heifer that had her first cal this year. She was bred to Peer Pressure. I induced her because she was already 10 days passed due. Didn't have the best luck. 1st time I induced a heifer but bw of calves from this heifer's dam and granddam made me nervous to let her go any longer. We did a c section, got a heifer calf about 80-85#, lost the calf. This year I had luck with the angus bull BC Long Shot on some of my other clubby heifers. Very clean fronted calves, big boned, hairy, sound, and very lively at birth.

a low line angus thats gut drags the ground -_- based on our luck with the yellow jackets

Don't look now but Yellowjacket steers are finally starting to win.  I think its a combination of people learning what to breed him to and the judges starting to increase the frame and smoothness on what they are looking for a little.

Champion Maine at SA and Champion Simi at Houston were Yellowjacket steers.
