People want more; photos are now a requirement, video is a nice way to set yourself apart. As bandwidth increases as well as better technology to compress video, it starts to become a requirement.
The generation that is before us has spent the majority of their life with the internet. In the last couple of years, the youtube phenomenon has caught on and has grown to the 7th most visited site on the web.
Here are a few things that I learned in just the past couple months of getting started with video.
1. HD Cameras can be had cheap. I paid $99.99 for a Polaroid HD Video Camera that I have been pleasantly surprised with.
2. Storage is cheap. My camera uses an SD disks and I can buy a 2gb disk for under $20 that will hold 1.5 hours of HD video.
3. A tripod is a must. Your camera will most likely come with image stabilization feature, but it is no substitute for a tripod.
4. The video editing software can be pricey if you want a more professional package.
5. The video editing software will push your computer to the limits. It is especially tough on the processor. You will need to follow the software’s minimum system requirements.
The best way to get started is to go ahead and buy your camera and tripod. Then start shooting a few videos out in the field of your better prospects. You can either give video editing a shot or head to the steerplanet forums, where there are plenty of members that will work on videos.
