So i've been asking my wife if i can buy some cattle for a while now. (we have the facility's but we both work full time off the farm) Now that the kids are all in school she gave me the green light. Last fall i bought 2 Hereford heifers and 2 Shorthorn cross. My goals for the first go round are live calves and maybe future club calf momma's. Everything i read on here indicates Angus for first calf heifers. My question is why is a CE Angus better than a CE Simmental or CE Maine? My daughter is showing a Maine/Shorthorn cross at the local 4H fair this summer and he is the coolest!
She just moved up from her first 3 years of showing a Holstein feeder, this is our first "fat Steer".
Before she bought him i had never heard of a "club calf" or a Maine Anjou.
Any advice would be appreciated, i have pics of the heifers if anybody's interested.

Wow, tough crowd. Its like our first year at the fair.
So is it a dumb question or should i have started in "the Big Show"? I would really like some direction on what kind of cows i need so i can eventually breed to some of the club calf bulls?

I agree with CAB, if you post this to The Big Show more people will see it. Adding pictures of your females will get even better results. I do not breed clubbies or crossbreds so I can't answer your questions but good luck and welcome to SteerPanet :)
