Personally, I am not a fan of him.  I saw him on display, and I just don't like his style, I think it's his flank.  JMO!

I have a heifer out of him and I love her! She's got lots of body and she's super sound!  As an added bonus, she has LOADS of hair and is colored too! I wouldn't call her wild, but she's definetly got some sass.  First time I clipped her was a little.. Interesting, but I got her done and she's gottan better.  Overall, I'm really happy with her.

The Big Show / Re: Ring Worm Just won't go away

I also use Fluid Film, you can get it from your John Deere dealer.  It's similar to WD-40, but I find it lasts longer.  I just treated my steer with it a couple weeks ago.  He was really sick, and with his immune system down, the ringworm went wild.  It was by far the worst case I've ever had.  After soaking it down with fluid film, he had hair poking through in just a couple days.  It works magic.  If you do decide to use it, it does bubble, which is nothing to be worried about, that's just the oil.

The Big Show / Best Show to Watch?
« on: February 13, 2014, 09:46:55 PM »
Living in Canada, I have never had the opportunity to experience one of these big steer shows that are brought up so often in posts on this site.  I would have loved to experience Fort Worth or Denver but couldn't get the time off of work.  Not only for the steer show, but also the female show and the overall experience, which shows are your favorite to attend and what makes them great?

I'd love to see this bull slicked/wet, anyone got any pics without the hair?
I don't have any pictures, but he doesn't have as much hair as it looks like.  I've seen this bull in the washrack, and he is the exact same bull soaked down as he is haired up.  A huge congratulations to the crew and of course Jordan!

Normally there is a post, so I thought I would start one.  I didn't get to make it out this year, so I thought I would see what people who were there thought. Which were your favorites? Rock salt and Italian stallion seemed to be getting pushed pretty hard, how did they measure up?

I wash and dry my halters before I use them. They still have some of that smooth texture but not as bad

Just on a normal wash cycle? Do you use soap or dryer sheets or just run them through

Here is an I-80 X YJ that Lautners bought from Canada
And a Monopoly X Bloodstone that Lautners bought from Cody Webb
And I found another picture of that Salty Dog of Trausch's

Where in Canada did the I-80 Z YJ come from?

The Big Show / Re: Failed Breeding

Last year my show heifer came into heat, so she was hand bred to one of our bulls, and then came into heat every 3 weeks after that.  My vet says that every once in a while that happens with heifers. So I would recommend pregchecking her to make sure that she isn't actually bred, and just showing false heats.

The Big Show / New Rope Halters - Slippery!
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:48:08 PM »
I got a bunch of brand new Weaver rope halters, but they are really slippery, and they wont stay tight under their jaw.  What do you do to get that waxy texture off?

I as well do not want to point fingers, and this is JUST MY OPINION.. People breeding specifically for show heifers or steerss, utter quality isn't that high on the list of priorities.  I think this happens a little more often in the United States because at the purebreds shows as well, it's almost always heifer calves and bred heifers that win.

Again, this JMO!
