GB...White Angus are not Aberdeen Angus....they are a crossbred!
They are selling a cross with a facticious name!

Most are, but there are now some "pure" Angus that are white. The results of a single gene splice.

One strain used the leghorn chicken gene, but I guess that qualifies as "GMO". The next strain used the silver galloway gene. I'm not sure if either strain is still being developed for commercial use.

WHAT!!!!  :o :o :o :o
Chicken genes on cattle!?!?!?!
By the way, Murray are not Aberdeens....OK OK, they are NOW Anguses cousins! ahahahahaha.....but for me MG are yet SHO x AA.

Very interesting topic. I thought about this subject when I looked at the White Angus cattle at the Iowa State Fair yesterday. They must not carry this defect, but I wonder how this breed has maintained itself over the years after decending from one white cow. Vert interesting genetics.
Are they Albino? Are they truly Angus? Tried to google them, to no avail.

I bought and produce many whites on my short history as Shorthorn breeder.
Never had problems with whites.
Whites are my preferred color just with roans!
But, last month received a call from a friend that import with me some embryos from UK.
He got a good white heifer that is totally infertile!
She is free of american blood.
Also show some red ears and muzzle.
Possible a randomical character...some have lucky some not!
Look for a pic of heifer, but none in good position to show her marks.

Echard or Scottish Echard had semen imported to Brazil to be used for "improve" the Shorthorns here.
Not use widely, 2 o 3 herds used him. Lincoln Reds were widelly udes here, not Maines.
I have some Echard semen.
Tryed to find some pics, not success.

Embryos from Uk and Argentina. Never got more than 40%.
Selected receptors, all sexual diseases vaccinates OK....good body condition receptors....asked to vet what was wrong....he answer me..."too many factors, not easy to know!.
Finnished my ET's by a time. Lots of embryos on tank.
Without a specific answer to do a good rate, will not implant nothing more!

Well, if I can check, always try to look the dam and sisters of refered bull. To me is an indication. Also, if it show a wide back and large ilium and isquios is also a way to try look for right ones.

I understand that database used for the make a breed media is the reason.
New database is based on huge weights, elephants and rhinos must to run to be entered on positive EBV/EPD graphis.
Old genetics show smaller final weights, same with a good weight gain, they will never reach to actual blacks.

The Big Show / Shorthorn in hot weather....
« on: September 09, 2017, 02:39:56 PM »
Hi fellows.
Where is the hottest weather/place were Shorthorns are bred?
Here in southern Brazil we got summers with around 25C to 30C, some days reaching to 34C in summer.
The hottest time is from 15 december until early march. Hottest days will to be on mid january to early february.
Humidity around 75% to 85%.
So, how many days with hot, which TC, humidity % and what bloodlines are raised on this places.
Thanks.
