I will admit that last year I was disappointed w/ my 2 Money Man's. But I decided to give him a second chance on the same cows & boy am I glad I did!!!!

This is the heifer Gidget

here is the bull calf out of Rose just born this afternoon

I've never had calves w/ so much vigor after being born! Of course both deliveries were quick so that helped.

Do need some help naming the bull calf!

ouch! That had to hurt both you & the calf. Hope it turns out well for you!
Looks like a dandy.

About 15 years ago I had a cow at calving time passed her placenta. and quit pushing. I kept looking for a calf and finally went in her and there was a fresh dead calf. Seems like to me the first cow to calve eevry year has something wrong. This year had one early. Did o.k.....small....bug eyed just died yesterday...probably 4 weeks old. Hopefully it isn't a bug eyed calf defect of somekind.yikes

AJ- both my Foreplay's are somewhat bug eyed. Hasn't been passed along but who knows!  ;)

Last year we AI'd a cow. A couple of months later she was back in a strong heat. Since we were looking at reducing some of our numbers here & it would put her real late, we turned her over to the farm's bull. Well, yesterday she had her calf & it was spot on for the AI date. Gave us quite a chuckle. I guess you can't always believe what the cows tells you!

Also Wild Rose had a really nice Money Man bull. Not sure of weight but I've never seen calves w/ such vigor! We had a Hard Core out of our Iceman x Foreplay cow. She required just a light pull. Will get back w/ weights.

actually it was 25 new police cadets that were hired. He even flew in for the graduation ceremony. Hum... how much did that cost?

The Big Show / Re: Any thoughts on what day to wean?
« on: March 13, 2009, 08:26:01 AM »
never tried using the signs to wean. We wean early so calves are smaller to break for us. Usually between 3-4 months. Do make sure they are eating creep feed well.

Well Done

I feel for you Cathy. It would drive most of us crazy. But you it might drive sane. ;) ;)

know we've gone off topic but I'm seeing a pain management dr next Tuesday. I have a long history of headaches & migraines. Can live w/ a headache but a migraine sends me heading for the hills.

I've been looking over the schedule, Saturday probably the best. Shorthorns sell at 10 am Saturday & Maines sell at 2 pm w/ semen sale after that. The judging contest contest starts at 9 am. The jr showmanship begins at 3 pm. Wondering if 5 pm on Saturday might work the best? Thinking in the Genetic Pathway hall.

Any other thoughts?

(:)) stupid "Red" question. Is a true breech back feet first or butt first?
