I've been told that fall calves are smaller than spring by so many people that I assumed it was common knowledge.

Why? Do bulls produce smaller Sea mans in December?

Has anyone had as many calving problems with Fall calvers? Versus Spring?

In my opinion there isn't one, the bull is only half of the equation so if your cow is calving ease you're fine, if your cow isn't you're in trouble no matter what you use.

Jill, I only give the bull a third of the credit in the equation. I've had dramatic changes in birth weight, but they always seem to be bunched together. The only conclusion I can come up with is, plumeting temperature, and\or changes in feedstuff on\or about the beginning of third trimester.

You've allready got the karma meter, to me that speaks volumes.

Maybe when karma points are negative limit to one response per subject. Not banned, just limited!

I don't know, I hate rules!

We went to see Alice in Wonderland yesterday, the Red Queen was pretty handy at screaming "Off with their heads".  ;D

There is a point in every successful businessman's career when he had better have all the answers before he asks the questions.

Most research shows you can't create big calves by feeding to much.  What you can to is make your cows to fleshy and they become lazy and exhausted when pushing.  This is probably the easiest calving we have had in years bw's have been very moderate and in many cases lower than expected.

I personally, would challenge that research. I believe "feed management" is 1/3 of the calving equation. The other 2/3 being genetics and environment.

Truth, Justice, and The American Way! I personally feel very fortunate to live in the USA!

The most emotional bashing of my pre-adult life was the year I did some consistant winning with a home raised steer. But I know now it was by an insignificant few, including accusations from bought off judges to illegal professional fitting. At least high dollar cattle are expected to win.

The complaining done by those "insignificant few" children, in part, grow up to be insignificant adults. What really matters is the group of people, children and adults, gathered around the winners with smiles, handshakes, and hugs. These are the people that matter! Win or loose!

If your upset getting rolled with a home raised calf, how you gonna handle gettin rolled with one you mortgaged the house for?

The Living version published by Tyndale is an easier read, especially for the Layman. Revelation 6:12-14 gives pretty graphic details of an enormous earth quake, I don't know if I'd count on 2012 though! Timing is the one thing Proficy very carefully leaves out. Only sequences.
