The Big Show / Eye Candy and Naughty Pine (debate)
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:39:14 AM »
Alright guys there is something I've been questioning for a solid year now. What makes Eye Candy so much better in everyones eyes. Eye Candy is out of Naughty Pine so why did people not breed more Naughty Pines? I personally have seen more better naughty pines as mature cattle. The ones I have seen have been sound enough, good bodied, plenty of growth, good hair, and stout enough. To me the eye candys are great babies but have yet to see one with for sure enough growth. The front ends on most i have seen are pretty plain for a slick shear type show. I might just see cattle a little different but it blows my mind that people would bet the bank on eye candy but look completely past his sire...even today heatwave has more success than most of his sons. Not trying to bash a bull or the promoters the bulls i mentioned (EC & NP) are both Traush bulls. Lets keep this civil but seriously this has been on the back of my mind for a while now I guess I just don't have the right cattle for eye candy?

« on: September 21, 2011, 03:31:13 PM »
Hey guys not real sure where to post this. So I'll just put it up here. I grew up in Caldwell and am now a student at Texas A&M in College station. My herd has "outgrown" my dads place basically we just run to entirely different programs. Here is what I am looking for: A lease place yearly prefereably in the range of 50-200 acres and within reasonable distance from either caldwell or college station. Either call me at (979) 820-4388, email me at doonancattleco@yahoo.com, or just PM me here.

 Thank you and God Bless,

Hey guys here is a calf out of my female that was raised by Jamie Fred, AKA Freddy. I got her through the Tusa Fall Fantasy Sale in 2009. The calf is a March 10, 2011. The calf is sired by a bull we call Turn 2 (Ice pick/New look). Had him for heifers and sold him last fall (big mistake). Here are some pics of the calf, dam, and sire. Tell me what ya think. He was worked and cut yesterday and these pics are immediately after the cutting. Planning on weaning in September and will price then. Sorry about some of the photos they are off my cell phone and the photo sizes but this will work for now  (lol), thanks.

The Big Show / Thriller Calves?
« on: July 18, 2011, 10:15:32 PM »
Does anyone have any thrillers on the ground? What do you think of them? Did he change the cow any, positive and negative? I have one coming in September out of a purebred charolais cow and starting to get pretty excited about it. Thanks.

The Big Show / OCC Legend or Copy Right?
« on: July 16, 2011, 07:33:27 PM »
Hey guys I have an Irish Whiskey X Spin Doctor/Charolais cow that is super cool fronted big hipped and great haired but she needs a little more softness and depth of body to be a real good one. If you were breeding for females which one of these bulls would you use and why? Thanks.

Cattle For Sale / Feb. 2011 ABC Heifer!
« on: July 06, 2011, 12:48:57 AM »
Hey guys here is a heifer that I weaned this week. She is out of a Legend son X Gert cross cow. Born early Feb. during the snow. She has had all her shots except for her brucellosis vac from the vet. Started on feed this week and has a good disposition. This one could be pretty competitive for a family at a county fair or running the TJLA ABC circuit. Super square hipped, sound footed, and sweet colored! I am asking $1250 on her and she is located in Caldwell, TX. Available for viewing anytime that is needed. She is not halter broke but could be for a little extra charge. This one will be a good cow for someone that could either raise simbrah show steers or be one heck of a recip as her mother milks outstanding! Look how she has handled this calf in the Texas heat and stranger snow haha. Either email me at doonancattleco@yahoo.com or call anytime at 979/820/4388.

Thank you,

Kevin Doonan

The Big Show / Braggin for Showstopper 95 and family!
« on: June 08, 2011, 11:08:41 PM »
Hey guys I know Braden will get on here fairly soon but just wanted to beat him to it!  (thumbsup) If you have followed his post any their county fair was this week and the steer show was tonight at Grimes County Fair in Navasota, TX. Well to start the week off his yellowjacket calf that he has been workin so hard on either twisted or sprained a knee after we slick sheared him and was limping with a swollen knee and elected to not show him with a possible appearance at the state fair. But the week got better as his brother and him had the Champion and Reserve Champion american steer with calves they raised! Thats two years of success with their Purple Pride Cattle. (this kid hasnt even started acquiring crossed club cows just older good milking american cows on sim/angus bulls-honest cattle) Braden (showstopper 95) was Champion American and senior showmanship while his brother was Reserve Champion american, Junior showmanship champion, and placed his captain morgan calf from Sam and Rusty Skinner 2nd in the heavyweight exotics behind the reserve champion which was a super good milkman from Jacob Tusa. These are some fun, hardworking kids to work with and for and just wanted to brag on them for a little bit!

Thanks for letting me ramble  (lol)

Hey guys here is a mature Wyoming wind X Unlimited ease female that is due to thriller in September. What do you think would be a good match for her this next go around? I'm thinking mercedes benz, walks alone, or heatwave.

The Big Show / which bull should I breed this one to?
« on: May 16, 2011, 02:17:31 PM »
Hey guys here is a cow that I showed my senior year and we were Junior Charolais Champion in houston in 2010. I bred her to a bull we had called Turn 2 that is an Icepick son/Outlook Cow  X New Look Cow since he was easy calving. Here is her calf out of that icepick cross. I am adding pics of her, the calf, and the bull. She needs to be downsized a touch and powered up some. I am thinking walks alone, believe in me, or walks on water.
