The Big Show / Thoughts on American Calf we raised.
« on: April 23, 2011, 01:29:48 PM »
Hey guys here is an american calf that we raised. He is a feb. Angus X Gert Cross (first calf heifer). Slick polled, great boned, and pretty complete from the side, He will be for sale just have no clue on price or even when I'll cut him. Started on Creep feed for about 2 weeks now. Be honest we have shown plenty americans and raised a couple I know what a great one is and this one is not that by any means but will be a respectable project for someone at an affordable price. This one would be perfect for a county or the light to middle weight brangus class at Houston. Thanks for the honest remarks.

The Big Show / Stephenville Prospect show
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:46:01 PM »
Did anyone make it up to stephenville this weekend if so how did everyone do and who judged this year.

Here is a fall Solid Gold X Deja Vu heifer that we are offering for sale. She is plenty gentle enough to break and be shown but her best days are in the pasture as a cow for sure. The powers in the blood here for raising super super good club calfs! She was really hairy this past fall and would compete in the chi heifer shows. She is out of glovers deja vu donor cow. For those that don't know deja vu is a full flush son. This heifer is combining full flush, heatwave, cunia, and some super good charolais genetics. This is the type that turns into the cow that produces thousands of dollars.

Cattle For Sale / Great Fort Worth or Haired County Steer SOLD
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:43:50 PM »
Here is an August Heatwave X Total Play Steer that we have for sale in Caldwell, Tx. He has a superb disposition and can be handled by everyone. This calf will be competitive at any level up north or down here in Texas either county or major shows. If needed to slick he can do it but will be a great haired one. His dam has had 4 calves brand at Fort Worth!!! He has not been on full feeders like most programs and is still a little greener than most which is prefered by myself as there is no reason to peak at this age. He can be veiwed at anyones convience, pm or Call at anytime (979) 820-4388 this one won't last long!  Here are some pictures I even put one of him wet! This one is honest as the day is long!

Thank you,

The Big Show / Dejavu
« on: March 12, 2011, 10:19:30 PM »
Hey guys I showed some really good calves bred by this bull while I was showing im now graduated and raising calves and was wondering if i could get some information on breeding to DejaVu. Birthweight, what cow works best, etc. Thanks!

After much thought I have decided to sell this heifer that I bought to put into the donor program. I need to get better heifers on the road as I strive to sell quality cattle and would like people to know that I want to get them the best possible. She is a spring 2010 Legend X Carneyman/Alias. A super pedigree to produce both excellent females and competitive steers. In the next couple of days she will be put on feed but not a full feeder as I do NOT want to have this female super fat as her best days are as a cow or bred show heifer. I believe this female could take someone to the top in a hurry. She can be papered as a Chi and would break extremely easy as she has a mild disposition. All that aside, this is a super complete and sound footed individual. I would be hard pressed to find one with a bigger hip and with as much angularity to her design. This one is the real deal in my opinion.

She is located in Caldwell, Tx (an hour east of Austin, an hour and a half north of Houston, and 30 miles west of College Station) and can be viewed at your convience.

Thank you,

Kevin Doonan

After looking at this picture it looks like she is standing pigeon toed I assure you she is all forward look at the other pictures for reassurance.

The last picture is blurry after being blown up but you can tell the angularity and length of side. She is worth the trip to come look.

The Big Show / Legend X Carney Man/Alias Heifer
« on: February 19, 2011, 09:34:20 PM »
What you think? I bought this heifer the other day while tooking at fall born steers. My question is should I keep her as a breeding piece or sale her as a chi show heifer. I never thought about having her shown but after being around her she is gentle so I put her in the chute and took her top out real quick and slid a halter on her she didn't fight very much at all so it got me to thinking. She has also not been on feed and once she does I think this one could become real special. Thanks.

The Big Show / Anyone needing help in Houston with the heifer show?
« on: February 10, 2011, 11:14:32 AM »
Hey guys I will be on spring break and will not have classes the week of the Houston junior heifer show. If anyone is needing any help or anything I will be open that week. I have skills of basic clipping (if needed), but most importantly I am respectable with the work I do. (no smoking or drinking) I also understand the show management that it takes to be successful in the ring. Please PM or call me at 979-820-4388 if you have any questions or want to work something out my schedule is flexible. I would like to work with a group or family to be there to help wash/blow/feed/ and such.

My senior year I had Junior Champion Charolais heifer at Houston that was left standing to Dennis' Supreme overall. My heifer was also undefeated in class at all other shows.

Thank you,

The Big Show / Power Plus vs Navajo?
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:10:51 PM »
Hey guys these two are full sibs I have used powerplus but my question is how does navajo breed in comparison to power plus, his numbers are better but I have never used him. He seems cleaner made so might not work on my americans but sure would seem like a logical choice on my exotic heifers

Cattle For Sale / American Pair for sale!
« on: December 19, 2010, 01:29:25 PM »
I am offering a 4 year old American female of mine that has an October 1st calf on her side. The calf is out of a charolais bull of mine that I sold this past spring. She is a good functional cow that milks and is extremely sound footed. She has always thrown plenty of character in her calves to class american she might even throw a Brahman if bred to a cresty bull. Its not letting me post the pics on here but I can email them to whoever is interested just send me an email address. This cow will give someone a great start on breeding american show calves. I am asking 1750 for the pair and delivery can be arranged at buyers expense. Thank you, for more information you can pm me or call me at 979-820-4388 and ask for Kevin.

The Big Show / What to breed moderate american cow to?
« on: December 12, 2010, 07:16:53 PM »
Hey guys I have a moderate brangus female up super sound great ribbed good boned just needs to be squared up a little. Im looking for a bull to keep the character as well as being lighter birthweight (second calf). I have thought about paddy o' malley or something along the ali bloodlines or maybe irish whiskey but might be to clean. Thanks for any thoughts.

Cattle For Sale / Stud of an ABC for a spring county fair!!!
« on: October 18, 2010, 07:41:10 PM »
Hey guys a friend of mine has played with the idea of selling their houston steer due to making the sale with both of his other calves at the county fair last week and is worried about feeding one by himself but if he doesnt sell there are not hard feelings. This calf is broke and gentle but the qaulity is there to win a county fair even as an american! He is a heatwave son crossed to a gert/maine cow and is solid black and polled so brangus, gert, abc, or possible brahman here. He is huge backed good flanked and tailheaded that is combined into a super sound footed complete package. On top of being a rare find he is a ground pounder and will finish out at about 1300# or so and around that magical height of 50".

Seriously inquires please, but will entertain all questions.
Thank you!

Archived Classifieds / Showmanship Lessons
« on: August 02, 2010, 12:25:08 PM »
After much consideration and traveling to shows (fitting and helping families) I have observed some below par showmanship within the ring (both people i know and dont know). I have decided to give some showmanship lessons to try and help pay for school. Either I can come to you or you can come to me, I can find a place for us to meet in College Station where i will be at school or we can meet in Caldwell where i grew up which is 30 miles closer west. I am going to be charging my mileage and $15 an hour for the lessons. Everybody that I've talked to thanks this is extremely cheap but I want to see how it will work out and I also enjoy working with the kids and their families. My name is Kevin Doonan, an 18 year old Freshman at Texas A&M majoring in Animal Science. You can contact me on here or call me at (979) 820-4388 if you have any questions or comments.

Please call or contact for pricing, I like to be straight forward with cost so there is no surprise and that every part of the deal is a pleasure and success.

Thank you,
