Private selling or 4-h auction

I am looking to buy pigs this spring and i was wondering if its is better to sell the pigs to private buyers or sell them at my 4-h county fair auction. Also, should I buy a pair of pigs or just one and what is the best breed of pig for market or possibly showing. All input would be greatly appreciated!
