Looks like he needs all the weight and condition you can put on him before fair.  Feed the heck out of him.

Pour it to him. It's hard to tell anything about his front end because he has his head turned. From there back though, he looks a little flat in his rib shape and he could use some more finish.

Pour the feed to him. Let him eat! He needs some fill and more finish.

Did he really weight 900 something in december? His rate if gain has been really poor if that's the case.

I agree that he isnt ready-just too green looking-and just not enough body dimension-you may want to gradually just let him self feed-free choice. HE looks like hes grown though-I would put him at 1150-1200 pounds as a guess. O0

From what I see, he's probably 1200 now. He needs to be around 1375 before he'll be done. Not a very muscular calf but I bet he would taste damn good with another 200lbs on him.

yah we are really going for carcass and showmanship.  Doing well in the overall show would be the topper on the cake. :)

As others have said, pour him the feed because he's not growing at the clip you would want.  I'm not certain of your situation, but he looks like he needs more work with the hair too.

When was the last time you wormed him, 900 in December and 6 months at 2 a day he should be around at least 1260 at this point.

I am curious to what feed you fed and how much? You should have been cruising into your fair if he was at 900 in December.

Well he had an injury and went off feed for a little while and lost some conditioning. But as of now he gets a full pan of corn-oat-molasses mixture twice a day. i beleive it is an 8 quart pan. and he has full acess to pasture and hay.

I'm guessing here, but is this your farmer friends ration? In my humble opinion he needs to be on a balanced finisher ration. There is no reason that calf should have any oats in his feed.

The full access to pasture is a big reason he isn't finished. That concerns me more than the oats.

My main concern with that ration is you have nothing in there that is going to help him fill out you really need to get some beet pulp or cottenseed hulls in your ration and as a more cost effective way to add protien add some soy hulls to his diet

I agree he needs to be locked up. However he needs to be fed a HOT ration to get him fat. From the picture I don't think he will weigh much more than 1000. I'd be more concerned about making weight than anything.
