Lynn, are you referring to all breeds or to the Shorthorn show?  It was a very high quality show this year, and the top prizes got spread around. I will post some pictures of some of the winners when I get them, and will give more info. when I have a little more time.

Thanks JIT,

I'm primarily interested in the Shorthorns but I am always interested in other breeds if you know of any outstanding individuals.  I like good cattle no matter what breed they are.  I hope you did well and I hope the other SP members were your toughest competition!!

Thanks,

Oakbar

This was my first time going to Agribition - wish I had known there were so many SP's up there! The Angus barn was pretty salty all the way through. I made it through the Shorthorn barn, but didn't get a chance to talk to anyone. We'll be pulling cattle up there next year, so I need to make some friends in case I need help fitting :)

Here are pics of two Grand Champion bulls at Canadian Western Agribition. The first is HC FL Touchdown 123T ET who was Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull. He is owned by LA Land and Cattle Co., Leduc, AB, Horseshoe Creek Farms Ltd, Weyburn SK and Fantasy Lane Farms, Rockwood ON. He is an ET son of K-Kim Last Call 159N ET x*. He is a May 3, 2007 bull and he weighed 2360 lbs at the show. He ran with 70 cows in the breeding season.

The second picture is HC Timeline 17T ET x*, and he was Grand Champion Shorthorn Plus Bull at the 09 Agribition show. He weighed 2470 lbs at the show. Both these bulls are purebred in the US but Timeline is 1/32 too low percentage in Canada to be shown in the purebred show.

Both these bulls will be in Denver and will show in the same class so it should be interesting.

Here is our Senior Heifer Calf Champion at Agribition. She is CYT Maggie 9103 ET x* and she was purchased in the Cyclone Trace sale at Clarion, IA in October. We think she is a donor in the making!

Congratulations on the wins!

Looks like a very sood set.  So, how cold was it up there during the show, it had to be a bit brisk.

The weather was abnormally warm for the entire show. The doors on the buildings were open all day and it was warm enough in the barns that we had to keep our fans going constantly or the cattle would sweat. I have shown cattle at all 39 Agribition shows and this was the first year I never put a pair of gloves on my hands.. to bring or take cattle to and from the tieouts. It was still nice weather when we got home, but the nasty cold weather hit us about a week after the show was over. Today the weather is saying -45ish with the wind chill, but so far, it is calm and not bad temps. Hopefully we are going to miss the wind and colder temps.

Congratulations, JIT!!  I thought you might do pretty well up there with the CYT heifer.  Good looking bulls, too!  Should shape up to be quite a competition in Denver--hope I can get there to  see it!!    Good Luck!!
