Alias

I been doing some searching on Alias but I am not finding too much. What types of cows is he going to work on? When bred to black clubby/black angus cows what are the chances of smoke calves? Is he ok BW wise for a second calver that is clubby? Thanks!

I have seen several Alias over the years-- all are stamped the same...  low end of grow, very chubby, and most are too straight.  Some might call the heifers course, but others would say powerful.

Breed to big sound cows if you enough grow in your calves-, moderate cows if you want jackpot steers that get done quick. 

I've seen the colored vs black split almost right down the middle.

BW- as good as the flip of a coin I would say, sure think so on a 2nd calver it'd be ok.

doubt he'll do much different... although I've only seen one calf-- in a picture-- on here.

What do you need in a smoke?  if it's frame and muscle and soundness with great odds of color- - you need to mate purebred char-- otherwise you'll never find it.

The little brother loves smokes and it's all he wants to use on his cows.  So more or less I am trying to find him a bull that will be serviceable for his needs.

out of pb bred angus cows he will work great i have seen multiple calves out of alias and they all made great cows down the road i have only seen one that was built like a steer and that came from a cow that was coarse made ... some people have had front leg issues and such but i havent seen any with that problem if you have a sound cow the calf should be fine a couple years ago he was for sure the go  to smoke bull now alot of people have been using alot of the new smokes and i have not been as impressed with the calves... i hope i helped.. good luck  <cowboy>

I agree with "outspoken" regarding calves being too straight.  Both Alia steers that my nephews have shown ended up having walking issues.  One became too straight on front end and the other became too straight on the back end.

You all have hit the nail on the head!!!!

My daughter is getting ready to show an Alias calf at our fair next week and he can barely walk...We have tried every thing from joint supplement, DMSO and now to aspirin..

His front legs have swollen joints, his front feet point out given that we have had his feet trimmed twice, back legs straight as pins.

I would not recommend this bull..

If your cow has any structure issues don't use Alias. Even breeding him to some really angular angus cows I have still gotten cripples. BUT when he hits a good one he goes big. My best steer was an alias. 1 good one 3 cripples. Not Good enough odds for me.

i have seen quite a few choppin woods and were very impressive

Troubadour,Yellow Jacket,Felony, Muddy Water, Firewater, Uno Mass, Captain Morgan, no particular order, would be towards the top of my list to try for Char. influenced bulls right now.

I pretty much agree with this list-- and I've personally seen two of them-- Felony and CM...  Would use both if that was my game to play.  Actually do have CM in the tank.

has anyone seen cripples out of uno mas?
