Yeah, I like to wait and see what they are throwing and if the calves are good, then I will seriously consider using them. Out cattle are moderate, we have a couple framey cows we bred to Rito Legacy this year and those calves are AWESOME!! We have two great bull calves and a thick heifer calf. But I would like to mix it up and not use the same three AI bulls.

I do not know much about Great Divide, but Dark Horse is a carrier..... so that knocks him off of my list. Plus, I just doubt if he can produce, or out produce himself. Which is something I consider when selecting bulls.
I will dig into Great Divide/

My fear, is that with OCC breeding, they will produce smaller cattle.... time will tell.

Just throwin' this out there, but the original poster did specifically ask about "clubby" bulls for a few of their Angus cows.  If that's what they're after, then wouldn't it make sense that performance is not a bigger concern in this particular case than muscle, bone, hair and phenotype?  If you're looking to raise pb Angus show steers, and feel like you need something more "clubby" to do it, then the DCC and OCC lines would be a very good way to go, IMO.

We have a 2 bulls we think are very special and will work for both steers and heifers. Heavily muscled, great fronted, good traveling bulls with more size (frame mid 6) than some of the "clubby" bulls. They will also work for your bull and replacement females, as they have so much more "grow" thanbulls like Legend.
CHRISTIANS COACH 5040 is out of Robert Lastovica's Intrigue bull (T.C. Stockman 365 son) and a big soggy Black Label (Scotchcap grandson) show heifer his kids showed very successfully a long time back. The Intrigue bull also produced the grand Champion heifer, shown by Mollie Lastovica, at the 2005 Ft. Worth show.
"COACH" 's first calf crop produced the Lightweight Class Champion @ Ft. Worth this year ('09). A full blood, registered Angus steer. The first heifer shown out of him won her class at the Belt Buckle in Waco  this month and will win a bunch more before she is through. We have sold 13 heifers and 11 steers out of his second calf crop that will be shown in the coming show seasons. They will WIN!
COACH's calves are 75-90 lbs and come easy. His calves have as much thickness, bone, muscle, and depth as any Angus we have seen. Unbelievably stout, but travel great on sound feet and legs, and are very clean fronted.
Semen will be available in Nov. of '09.
Robert and I are partners on the other great bull, LAF TRADEMARK. He is out of the '05 Show Bull Of the Year Lagrande Forum, and Mollie's '05 Ft. Worth Champion (Intrigue daughter). His full sister, shown my Mollie this past year, was Reserve Champion @ Waco, Dallas State Fair, Reserve Division @ Ft. Worth, and Reserve Grand Champion @ San Antonio.
This is the best fronted and certainly one of the best traveling Angus bulls we have ever seen, with CHAMPION all over his pedigree.
Semen is available now. Call 254-688-0840 and come see us!

The answer is definitely SAV Wall Street. He is so thick and powerful he will blow your mind. I saw him 2 weeks ago and if you are looking for and Angus bull with thickness and power then Wallstreet is the answer.

I would say SAV Net Worth or SAV Pioneer, Pioneer has been used successfully on heifers and has been known to moderate larger framed females, while maintaining great growth. He was the heaviest 2 year old Genex had in stud last year, semen is very hard to get since he is in Schaffs pasture with the ladies but we will get him back in this fall and start collecting. Net worth calves are born good and just get better, i will warn you that they can get a little testy though.

Some great posts here. The OCC and DCC cattle are being infused into some big time registered Angus herds all across the country. They are NOT only being used for club calf operations. With Tim Ohlde and now Kirk Duff, they have diversified the Angus breed even more. Ohlde has sent Angus bulls to the so called big frame ranches in Montana, Wyoming,North and South Dakota for years. Why? To make cattle that are more efficent and larger profit margin. If Ohlde and Duff had to depend on the club calf world to market their cattle, they would go broke. Crossed with the so called high number cattle[epd's] they have moderated frame and the skewered numbers and are helping to give the Angus breed a shot in the arm that they are desperately needing. If this is not the case why has Anchor,Emblazon,Legend, and about twenty other bulls of Ohlde's dominated semen sales for so many years. The Angus breed may just save itself from its self.

they couldn't so they didn't.  they did it a long time ago and proved it by changing their feeding habits.  environment is underestimated.
