Well, first off, that is a really bad photo angle. So these comments may or may not apply.
He looks too post legged in the back. Although thick, he seems a bit sway backed and heavy fronted.
He is finer boned than most, but then again, I realize angus do not have the bone of crossbreds.
I would also like to see him a bit larger. He appears to be a frame 4.5 - 5.? That would make him finish a bit under weight, although he will be plenty fat. (Meaning he will be fat at 1000 and not at 1350)

He does exhibit plenty of thickness and has a clean brisket/throat. He also has a nice angus type head.

He is a nice calf, just not maybe a true show calf, but a nice calf that would appear to make money if in a feedlot.

I think we need more information to truly evaluate him...but I agree its a bad pic of him so not sure how much applies...he is definately way stretched in this pic and his hind legs do appear to be a little straight, but I think he is plenty adequate boned for an Angus...how old is this calf and what is he weighing? also where and when will you be showing him? If he is an older calf that is closer to show date then he will definately finish lighter and smaller framed than some of the other steers, but most of the Angus steers I have seen lately have been on the smaller side...on the other had if you have some time before your show, then you may have to hold him some...I dont think getting them to weigh as much as everything else is as important as having them properly finished and to me it looks like this guy could easily get really soft, overfinished and wasty...however it looks like he has some dimension and shape to him and you can tell he has been worked with so good job on him!

I think that the sway back and the hind legs are all due to him being set up way stretched out, he is deep and soggy. You have done a good job feeding him. I would try some Optiflex to get a little more pop out of him (as long as he is sound and moves well) he has enough fat that learning him out wont hurt. I bet he will make who ever purchases him very happy every time they fire up the BBQ.

He looks a little long in the toe, you may want to get his feet trimmed.

Question, is the nose ring and the arm in a cast related?

I like the steer!!! try hooking him in the belly with your show stick to lift that back up just a hair... Take another pic with a nice side profile so we can see him set up properly....

Biggest trick on taking photos of a calf is to get the camera down to their height, not from a standing position.

Calf isn't set up that badly, just move the front legs back 3 or 4 inches.

If you are weighing 1200 now, you'll have to put the brakes on to keep him under 1400 by the end of Feb.

Good bodied calf.

He seems a little short, sway back and big bellied.  But as other people said it could be just how he is set up.  He seems a little post legged.  I would put him more squarely on his legs and make him lift his stomach up a little

Looks good, but the picture isn't the best like some have said, he is a bit streached so make sure he doesn't look like that in the showring. Nice hair for a angus.

What do you mean by big bellied?

If I had 300 clones of him at 500 lbs I could stick them in the feedlot and never work another day in my life after they were gone. That should tell you what kind of a calf he is

Beefmaster, that big belly as you called it, is what you want to have on your steer. It is not a pot belly or hay belly it is the result of a steer that has the capacity to take in feed and convert it to product, this steer, in my opinion, looks like like an easy doing, feed converting, meat wagon. What you want in a fat steer.
