Love it Frostback!!! As Oh B said great shot! Will be interesting to see what color pattern it develops as it gets older.
does anyone else scratch their heads when they are registering calves on deciding what color to put them down as? :-\ I've got a black calf that is turning red now & red calf that is getting a darker shade of almost black as time goes on. ??? Always want to put other down as a color but question that too. What are guidelines? (cow)

He is by our black herd bull and out of a blue roan cow. He has a bit more roan on the top of his rump and a little behind his shoulder but the head is the kicker!

Nice calf.

Red, I registered my blue roan as "other."..... he sister has a little roan to her neck but I put her down as black.

I have had the same problem when they develop scurs later in life..... I bought a bull and it said "polled" but he has 3 inch scurs as a 3 year old...and I cannot fuss as I have done the same thing... a yearling yesterday was showing a small scur........

It is raining here in north Texas.  It has been in the forcast for almost 2 weeks and we are finally getting some rain here... other places have had 8 inches.  I now have an inch.....  I think winter is over as I saw mesquite budding today at the cemetery that I care for ..... non-paying job and no one will help me......  my aunt had it before me and I have having to cut the trees out of the fences, cactus and a real wiry type cactus that loves the fences.....

Hope the sun is shining on Ohio and every where else they need it and the rest who need rain are getting it or soon will..... have a good 'en.

Joe Boy, what part of Texas are you from?  I hung around Eagle Pass for a while. All I remember seeing there was abunch of Mesquites and Prickly Pear, and Rocks. Nothing else, besides some very good people. Not many cattle left down there, 9th year of drought and the Deer Hunting Industry wiped out the cow-calf bizzness.

I am from North Central Texas just north of 287 on 283 half way between Dallas and Amarillo.... VERNON.

I am trying to get rid of my Mesquites on the place I own but the rent place I only keep the road way cleared.  More and more we have the Prickly Pears moving in... but I have sandy soil on the rent land and tight black ground on our place.  Have you ever seen a cow with prickly pear niddles in her mouth... not a pretty sight.... but the drought caused lots of problems.... I had more knots and festers on the jaws, teeth and nose area.....  It has been since 1988 that I have had the early grass like I have this year, but lots of the native grasses have died.  The deer come up and eat with my cows.... I had 6 does, one had been shot but over came it, would come and eat every time I fed the cows.  The same is true of the wild hogs.  Hunters have priced the pasture ground out of the market for ranchers and farmers.  A neighbor with some land on the Red River sold rough sand hills with gulleys for $1500 per acre....it would take 20-30 acres to run one cow..... was bringing $200 on a good day.  We all worry that our taxes will go up.....

Hope all have a great Lord's day...

Aww I think it's cute.  We have an old holstein X called Blueface, for her blue face.  I wonder if that's how she looked when she was born.
