What happened with Tony Austin? Is he operating out of a new place? Seen the videos of Aces Wild on breeders world and it looked like Austin's place?

Ya, Tony moved I believe last summer?  He is alive and well, selling the same great steers he always has!

Speaking of Tony, What a great resource!  If you ever have a question, or need advice, he is a great guy to turn to.  I have never spent a nickel with him because I am up north, but he will always take my calls and is happy to help.  I will forewarn you...Tony is a real straight forward kind of a guy so be prepared for real "honest" feedback!

He did something on his website/blog that I thought was pretty cool last year.  He did a "live and uncut" video of a bunch of his sale steers, in their "working clothes".  Basically just took a camera guy with him out into the pens and sorted the steers off one at a time and walked them and talked each one of them.  Don't get me wrong, the calves weren't knee deep in mud, but they weren't fresh clipped and all glued up either.  He talked HIS own calves as if he were judging them, and I thought that spoke volumes about the type of operator he was.  If a calf was popping a little in his pastern, he didn't ignore it.  He talked about it and gave his opinion of what was causing it and how to handle it.

That is a link to his website.

I don't know if this ever materialized, but I got a call a while back from a producer in England, who makes shows for the discovery network.  They were going to produce a show on showing cattle, they mentioned to me, that he was one of the guys they were going to film.

I don't what ever became of it.

I may have been seeing things, but I swear I saw a Austin Cattle sign by a pasture on the east side of Eagle Mountain Lake in Saginaw, TX.  There were no barns, houses, or cattle, just a sign along the road.  Even more interesting now that there is word that he did, or is moving.  ???

From his website:

"We have sold our place at Fletcher Road and bought another place west of Weatherford. All ACC cattle operations will take place at Maverick Show Barn conveniently located in Ft. Worth, Tx betwee loop 820 and hwy 287 on Boat Club road. Don't mind the rumors or hear say, the only thing thats changed is our address, same quality cattle and customer service as we have offered in the past!"

Funny how things work......I just hung up with Tony!

You are absolutely right, the sign you have seen is where he is now located.  He said his new place north of Fort Worth is on about 130 acres.  Aces Wild DID in fact buy their old place, and so there ya have it.  His website is up to date, posting new cattle and blog feeds every day......except his Contact Us tab.  He told me "@%^&, I never even thought about that!"  They forgot to change their address on the website!

Oh, and in case anyone cares, I did NOT buy the red blaze faced Believe In Me that he was calling me on...about 1/3 of the way down the page if you click on the link!  He is pretty cool, but we are full!!!

That producer that you are talking about from England he did film numerous operations in Texas (one was one of my good friends). They wanted to do a reality show on the show cattle of Texas and the Texas majors. They filmed in west Texas a couple months ago but it will never air on tv. It didn't get picked up. My guess is not enough drama. Too bad though I would have watched it.

I've always said that "Steers & Showsticks" could be the next "Toddlers and Tiaras"!

I use to work calves for tony a couple years ago, he is the only trader that I've ever herd of or seen that would let potential buyers see the calves wet.
