wouldnt trust climax on heifers just yet. Ali is WAY to expensive, unless you use the clone. Just use DUFF Outer Limits. You wont be disappointed.

I had a 100+ pound bull calf out of Ali and a simangus heifer so i wouldn't recommend him.  Climax doesn't have low enough numbers for a heifer.  Be safe, go with something proven, Angus or even Northern Lite.  He has little bitty hairballs when they are born.

Northern Improvement - never had any issues with him.  Like the others have said, I would definitely stay away from Climax.

I had the worst luck with Ali on heifers that are simm/angus. 4 out of 5 pulled. Also the Ali calves did not look any better than my angus bull breds out of heifers, on cows he throws some pretty good calves. Climax seemed to have the worst disposition at nichols, don't know if I saw him on a bad day or what but he didn't like anyone near the pen he was in. Meyers 734 was not the easist calving himself so I don't think I would want to breed heifers to him. We bred our heifers to Hooks Shear force and Grizzly this year but won't know until first of march how they will turn out. Best luck I have had was just bull bred to EXT angus sons, never pulled a calf out of a heifer until I started AIing. Only reason we really AI heifers is just to sync them and calve them a couple weeks before the cows. Otherwise they would all be bred to my Simm or Angus herd bull.

Use a proven bull with EPDs.

If you want to go Simmy, I liked Dyer's suggestion of Hooks Shear Force...great calving ease bull. I used In Dew Time on my heifers and only pulled one at 88 lbs.

We use mostly angus base for first time heifers.  Norther improvement is a good or the new son being promoted by shatto cattle, NORTHERN ICE.
