« on: January 15, 2012, 06:21:10 PM »
i show in 60 days  the steer i am showing has never been clipped and has good hair. the  question here is if i clip him will he continue to grow hair.  i was once told to keep their heads and neck clipped tight in the winter and they will grow more hair.      somebody teach me something.....

of course he'll keep growing hair if you clip him, doesn't yours?  (lol) and by clipping his head and neck he will be colder, it should help a bit. i always keep my steer's heads shaved in the late summer and fall.

I always keep my cattle clipped because when it comes time to show I'd rather spend a little time fine tuning them than a lot of time working on a fuzzball that hasn't been touched.

I completely agree with The Show. Plus if you ever have to picture an animal or someone wants to look at them, they are already looking decent.
