Has anyone ever purchased insurance on a show animal?  If so do you have any recommendations for an insurance company to use? (cow)

We use Harding & Harding and would recommend them. We lost a bull that we had insured and they were great at getting a check out to us.

Whats average cost for a steer?  I know it'll depend on how much you insure them for but is there a scale?

I believe it is a % of the amount you want to insure. We found full mortality insurance was too expensive if you want to do many animals so we did a limited mortality that was much lower and got it with our farm insurance. Basically it covers any way they can die but natural causes or sickness, so things like travelling are covered. I hope that helps.
