Cheap Creep feed
« on: May 08, 2019, 11:26:45 AM »
With grain being relatively cheap these days, I was wondering if anyone has a good recipe for a cheap creep feed that I could mix up relatively easily? I will only have about 7 calves this year and my feeder capacity is only 650lbs, so getting the feed mill to mix a batch up is sort of out of the question at least initially.

I plan to put out Purina Wind&rain w/ availa 4 for the cows, so I'm assuming that will be sufficient for the calves' mineral needs.

Alternatively, I do get a corn&sirloin builder mix for our feedlot calves that I could use, but that is a finisher mix. I believe the last batch was ~$220/ton.

Here is a NebGuide from 2011 that lists some creep feed rations.
