I want some opinions on Club King, or any suggestions on another high % simmental bull that will work on straight angus commercial cows to make some females. I need better fleshing ability and more depth, and I can't spend more than $35 a straw.

I am not sure on Club King. But Bar 11 Simmi's in the Sugar City/Teton area have some real nice fat butt calves.  I was really impressed with the set of calves he had out of the bull.  There is a bull brother to Fat Butt in the Buhl area.  He is a year younger from a Flush and is a pretty nice bull.  I think semen is pretty reasonable on both bulls.  PM me if you need more information.

You may want to look @ In Dew Time And Trademark. I think that both may do what you are wanting. I think that IDT may size down better of the 2.

If you don't mind using a red Simmental bull, WS Beef Maker is a great Simmental sire on Angus cows. I have some yearlings heifers by him and they are really really good. Very moderate, good muscling, lots of body depth and rib shape, sound, and nice looking too. He's carried by ABS.

A Simmy bull I'm trying this year on my Angus type cows is SAS T101 Sweet Meat. I used him last year on some Brahman type cows and I really like the calves.

Club King should work on your Angus cows.  The will be real performance type cattle.  I wouldn't expect them to be as pretty as the Meyers X angus females are.  So, if you are trying to raise show cattle, a better choice would be 3C Macho.  I  have females by Macho out of Angus cows that are in production now.  They are very elegant, good milking, sound cows.  Trademark works good on Angus as well.  In Dew is just not powerful enough to work on Angus in my opinion.  Ellingtons black Perfector is another bull that crosses well on Angus.  He is an older bull but tried and proven.

Doesn't Macho usually add frame?

Yes, he adds frame that is why he works well on Angus cows. Smaller deep bodied angus cow are the best fit for him in my experience.

Picasso is an awesome PB Sim. bull to use on PB Angus. There is a good chance you you get black baldies. Excellent female replacement with hybrid vigor.

A good Angus cow can do a lot.  Too bad everyone always wants to change them.

Not really trying to change Angus cattle. Just trying to improve what we already have. Everyone who cares about there breed are  always interested in making them better. The Angus cattle are great foundation animals and can improve almost any beef cattle. Not that everone will agree with my statement.

I was curious about him too. We bought two bred heifers at The North Central Simmental Fall Classic a couple of weeks ago. One heifer, a Maximus 391/HBHP Princess Legacy573  is bred to him. We like both of these heifers allot. We think they both have a bright future.

We bred some females to Club King and Mo Better last year and had great results on both.  Club King will add muscle and power.  Our calves will not be bigger framed, medium frame but no bigger.  They all are powerful, we are flushing a cow to Club King in the spring.

Thanks for the input 3dfarms. We bought a bred through the Sanders Head of the Class sale, and she is bred to Club King due in January. She could use a shot of muscle... I have not seen a lot of his calves in the show ring yet, so I was wondering.

I'm sure you will get a great calf there out of Sanders cow.  Club King should be the extra muscle that the cow might lack.  Joe Mertz at River Creek Farms in Kansas owns Club King with Genex and Karry Hart up in South Dakota.  I talked to Joe about the bull not long after we got the calves out of Club King asking how he liked his progeny.  He had nothing but great things to say about what we should expect and he was right.

I love your quote: God, family, and Simmental cattle;  that's what makes life worth living!

Let me know how the calf turns out.

Thanks for the comment on my quote  ;D God comes first in our family, then family, then the cattle, of course SIMMENTAL!.
The heifer we picked up from Sanders is a Preferred Beef x Sanders good Cott Future donor (by Bold Future). She has great genetics, and a cute blaze face. Just a little wacky compared to our halter broke girls  ;)
