I have a Shorthorn bull on some commercial cows. He is throwing some real easy calves, so far averaging in the high sixties on birth weight. Is there any way to report this data to the shorthorn association? I am planning on registering a couple heifers as shorthorn plus out of my commercial cows, but I want to wait and see how they grow before I make my picks. Is this going to be a problem or do I need to make my picks earlier? Any guidance in the shorthorn plus registration process would be appreciated. From what I understand, I need to register the commercial cows first. I would love to report the calving ease data on my bull, but I don't really feel like registering 50 commercial cows to do it.

I would contact the breeder of the bull and see if he would co op with you especially if you collect data through harvest. The data is valuable to him as well even more so if you know the ancestry of your cows and have previously collected data on them.
