I have a heifer born April 5. That has had a constant cough. She has been treated with Excede injection 4 times now. In beginning of September had thick nose drainage and cough treat then. And again two weeks later. Now still has cough. Treated 11/15 and again last night. Poor girl will cough getting up and down. Sometimes so hard she poops too. I need help suggestions please!

She is gaining slow but good weight on show feed, clad manna, and power fuel twice daily.

Have you had a vet out to look at her? If Excede isn't working then it's probably viral rather than bacterial and you should stop wasting your money on antibiotics.

Yes, vet put four times. Listened to lungs and says they are clear. Just not sure how to get her relief.

I used to have calves that had similar problems, I put apple cider vinegar in the water.  It helped.  You may have something different.

Had 2 like that in the past, had every drug known to man and we perfectly fine except that cough. 1st one died vet opened her up and had abbesses in her throat. (probably from fighting me when I gave pill at birth) They broke open and died of the toxics in it.

2nd one same thing........

Sorry that's no help to you and I hope yours is different!

We have 2 that have very labored breathing and its really hard for me to listen to Its Been going on a long time The various theories about seasonal weed viruses etc dont pan out because it never goes away and it does affect their general condition Turns out-the last vet I spoke with said he sees it in herds and its not contagious (same with ours) He thinks (based upon experience and a description of the very loud labored breathing) they have developed pollips in the nose-this restricts airflow Not really treatable which aint good Just need to help them along some and my buddy has allways done that O0

How much should I add to 16 gallon bucket?
