We didn't get to make the trip out to Denver this year unfortunatley. Since the bulls are on display I was curious if anyone is there to get a look at the bulls. Wades bulls look impressive as usual, I dont really keep up with Lautners too much so if anyone has seen any first hand looks please share your thoughts.

My dad went down today for the Angus show but I asked him to walk thru the bulls and pick out the best 1. My dad is as picky as they get and a complete Angus guy, knows nearly nothing about the guys displaying. He picked Fair and Square and said he had a huge top and real smooth up front. Thought Wade had the best 2 bulls.

How big is the square one? He looked kinda dinky in the picture-I saw a pic of Laughtners MAB X Shorthorn -and his sibs a $11700 heifer and $35000 "Shorthorn" Steer-he looked very similar in type to the square bull  just overwhelming in his (hair) thickness-like the old outrageous  freaks that only Shorthorn blood seems to produce-If anybody sees him give me your worst O0

The banner for the "Redneck" bull says he's a Monopoly, not MAB, and the steer is listed as $53,000 not $35,000

My two cents, although it might not be worth that much.  I thought Rodgers had the best set of bulls there.  I preferred 1OAK to Fair and Square, but wouldn’t argue too hard if someone disagreed.  He seemed a little smoother throughout, and is TH/PHAF.
Dragers Dabo bull was super wide, square, loaded with muscle, personally I would have liked to seen more set to his rear leg.
Redneck would have been my choice for the % Shorthorn’s displayed.  Incredibly wide topped, monster boned while still appearing to have appropriate set to his wheels.
I thought Phil’s Trust in Me, name might not be right, it was his In God We Trust son, would definitely have some utility.
A few others I liked:
Schillings had a purebred Angus they call Confidential.  Owned with Hinrichsen and Pembrook.  Division Champion on the hill, wide bodied, huge belly, clean fronted, plenty stout for an angus, really think he’ll see some use.
Thunder?  Goretskas % Charolais.  Appeared from a standstill to be plenty sound, one of the wider clubby bulls in the yard, still appeared to have some grow.
Antidote-Maternal Made son owned by Silverline Genetics.  Larger framed and substantially more grow than most in the yards.  Maternal option, they had a video of him walking playing in the stalls, which was refreshing.
A really interesting bull that I saw, and he was displayed for the Western Elite sale later that night, was the solid black Maternal Made in the sale.  He wasn’t displayed to sell semen but to attract for the sale, but he was one of my personal favorites there.
There was several others that I’m sure we walked past, the yards were packed, and we really only stopped if they grabbed attention at first glance.

Ive just seen pictures couldnt go to Denver-To me-Redneck looked real made over and not wide at all from the rear lotta hair -no butt not much real  top-I was disapointed-I thought (at least from a couple cell pics) that Dabo was a lot more complete, certainly thicker, and had some grow-you were there so that's a huge difference. I'm a big maternal made fan-looking for pics of the bull mentioned if hes in a sale-Shorthorns get 0 credit for anything and Maines seem to come next -to me Maines are the most improved breed of cattle HANDS DOWN, but my hats off to people finally giving limmys some due-I dont have any-but thickness and guts are missing alot of places-NOT with them-although I remember when you were taking your life in your hands getting in a field with them. O0

I’m not gonna pretend to be an expert.  Dabo was pretty freakish from a width/muscle standpoint, I just struggled with his rear legs.  Redneck to me may not have been as stout, but was the bull I would choose of the  two.  I don’t really plan to use either, and to be real honest, didn’t spend a ton of time studying them as I didn’t feel either had a great fit in my operation.

Wish we could have attended this year :( happy to see pictures and curious to see what people think about the bulls on display.  I always like to see them in person especially their legs or at least a good video watching them move out.

In my opinion, 1OAK was by far the most balanced "clubby" bull out there. Reminds me of Getcha Some with maybe a little more size. It helps that he has full sibs winning coast to coast right now so he's not a fluke. Wade brought the heat in general this year.

Couldn't stand Redneck or Dabo. Just bulls. Redneck is alot of hair and I took care of one of his sisters and it took all we had to get her across at FWSS. Dabo is far too straight to be using in 2018.

Loved Timmy Schaeffers Angus bull he bought from Alan Miller. He's too legit to quit.

Also really liked Justin Tracy's ChiAngus bull. Really sound and moderate. If you need an alternative to Higgins or Winegardner breeding, he is it.
